Be it in local or international competitions, nobody had achieved that result in a 4-kilometers-long rallycross!
Everyone’s faces changed once more, but Gareth was calm.
He looked at Nell with a dark face. “So what? If you’re telling me this so that I’ll give up on the competition, let me tell you — that’s impossible!”
Nell chuckled. “You misunderstand! I never meant to ask you to give up; I’m only being objective by telling you that based on Dark Horse’s current strength, it’s impossible for you to reclaim the title.”
“You!”
The hot-tempered members could not hold it in any longer. They wanted to lunge at Nell.
They were stopped by Gareth.
He looked calmly at Nell. “What do you have to say then?”
Nell smirked. “I can help you win first place.”
“What?”
Everyone was in disbelief.
Nell added, “As long as you promise me something, I guarantee Dark Horse will be the champion this time.”
Gareth sneered. “I understand what you mean, but I’m sorry, I’m not interested in your suggestion, and I don’t believe what you said. I admit that Liam Jackman is a worthy challenger, but he’s not strong enough to make me shrink.”
Nell wanted to reply to him, but he raised his hand and cut her off.
“Enough. You may leave if there’s nothing else you’d like to say; I have to prepare for the race.”
Nell frowned.
Seeing as Gareth was resolute, she could only leave for now.
The competition started very soon.
Race cars from the four car-racing teams entered the circuit, then a whistle was blown to indicate the start of the race.
With that, the cars zoomed away like arrows leaving their bows.
The racetrack was extremely lively while the Dark Horse Racing Team members watched their team’s race car closely.
It was then that one of them was tapped on his shoulder.
When that person turned to see who was standing behind him, he immediately furrowed his eyebrows.
“Why are you here again? Have you not left?”
Nell smiled and pointed at the screen on the racetrack. “Look, your boss is already in third place now. Even if he managed to pass this round, he’ll only be in second place no matter how hard he tries in the next round; he can’t finish first.”
The person was furious because of what she said, but he could not refute her because she was saying the truth.
It was undeniable that Gareth was very capable four years ago, but there were always newcomers in this circle and car-racing was a sport that tested one’s reaction and coordination.
Gareth was… Old.
Situations from various road sections were shown on the screen. Gareth was constantly in third place, and while he was close behind the second racer, he was quite a distance away from Liam, who was in first.
Gareth’s teammates were slowly becoming dispirited.
Dark Horse had been preparing for four years to avenge a past insult.
Throughout the four years, they endured endless ridicule and snobbish looks without saying anything about them.
It was so that they could win this competition in the right way, and reclaim their glory!
They wanted to convince those who belittled them that the championship belonged to Dark Horse! It always had! It always would!
That said, based on the ongoing situation…
Would it no longer be possible?
Eventually, the team members went from being excited to being worried and ill-at-ease.
The result was announced when the first half of the competition ended.
Liam was ranked first with a result of 1 minute and 48 seconds; the next racer came in second with a result of 1 minute and 54 seconds; Gareth placed third with a result of 1 minute and 55 seconds.
It was evident that it was a one-sided race.
Following that, the judge announced that the three car-racing teams would enter the final round, which would begin in half an hour.
