“I’ll teach you.”
He shoved the gun in her hand and walked behind her. Then, Joel lifted her arms and taught her to aim and fire.
As they were in close proximity, Lucy could vividly feel the warm and numbing sensation coming from behind her ear — courtesy of the man breathing down her neck while he talked, and flush washed her cheeks.
Although they had engaged in a more intimate encounter before, that was a different situation.
During those times, he was not in his right mind while she had little to none misgivings as her only thought was to save and help him.
At present, their bodies were stuck closely against each other, like a couple head over heels in love, full of coquetry and sweetness.
Uneasy, Lucy wiggled her body but was met with the man’s mutter, “Don’t move!”
He put her gun-wielding arm in position and said, “Okay, just like this. Tighten your right arm and let loose of your left arm. Yes, like this. Okay, fire!”
“Bang!”
The plastic bullet brushed past the balloon.
With a face of regret, Lucy put down the gun and pouted. “Oh, no! It’s a miss.”
Joel shuffled her hair and smiled. “Rome wasn’t built in a day. You weren’t trained for this before so it’s not unusual you missed.”
Lucy rolled her eyes at him. “Don’t try to comfort me, Mr. Sharpshooter!”
With that, she returned the gun to the stall owner and they left together with the plush toys.
Following Lucy’s suggestions, the pair took a ride on a series of stimulating activities such as the pirate ship, roller coaster, flying trapeze, etc. Lucy was not in the mood to have fun in the beginning but quickly indulged in the moment after several rides brought her back to her childhood memories.
With the pair feeling weary three hours later, they sought an open-air cafe to take a break by the amusement park.
Right beside the cafe was a Turkish ice cream shop. The duo had just sat down when Joel asked her, “Do you want to try that?”
Lucy was not fond of sweets before but ever since she became an artist, she gave up on dessert completely since she was constantly on a diet. Though since then, she became interested in sweets.
She must have burned a lot of calories with the fun she had today and there was no harm in having just one ice cream, so she nodded.
Joel got up and went to the adjacent shop to buy an ice cream before handing it to her.
Lucy tore open the packaging. While taking small bites, she narrowed her eyes and glanced around.
Suddenly, her eyes lit up.
“Let’s do that later, okay?”
Joel moved his gaze towards the direction of her finger. It was an escape room.
He was fine with it. After all, he came specifically to keep her company in having fun today, so he nodded.
After Lucy had finished the ice cream, the duo drew near to the escape room.
The rule to the escape room was to find three hidden chests after entering the room and locate their way out following the clues obtained from the chests.
Of course, a panic button could be pressed in the event the exit could not be found or if an accident occurred, there would be staff members who would take them out.
In her school years, Lucy used to go out with her classmates during the weekend. The group of girls she hung out with were quite daring and had played multiple games more exciting and thrilling than this. Naturally, she was not afraid.
Joel did not feel much for the game either.
Thus, they were quite relaxed when they entered the room.
Until the lights went off out of the blue.
Caught in darkness, Lucy subconsciously tightened her grip on Joel’s hand.
“Don’t be scared!”
Echoing from above, the man’s voice simmered her down.
The escape room was built with an intricate network of pathways. The duo slowly advanced forth along the wall and came across many forks while on the way.
