It was very quiet in the car.
Neither of them had spoken.
Lucy initially wanted to tell Joel to get out of the car when the car reached the gate of the Orchid Villa. However, she only found out that the man was leaning against the car window and had fallen asleep when she turned her head.
She stared blankly and was a little surprised. Still, at the same time, she also felt bad when she saw the dark circles under his eyes.
The driver did not know that Joel was asleep and wanted to call him, but Lucy quickly stopped him. She put a finger to her mouth and slightly whispered, “Shh!”
The driver quickly covered his mouth upon seeing this.
Lucy then slid a pillow under Joel’s head. She then asked the driver to get a jacket from behind and covered Joel with it.
After doing all that, she got out of the car and said to the driver, “Let him sleep for a while. Don’t disturb him.”
The driver looked at her and then glanced at Joel who was sleeping in the car. He was trying to find the right words to say.
“But Second Young Master still has to go to the company in the afternoon…”
“No job is more important than one’s health,” Lucy interrupted him without a second thought. She lifted her wrist and looked at her watch. “Just let him sleep for two hours. If he doesn’t wake up in two hours, I will come and wake him in person.”
The driver could not say anything, so he nodded and agreed.
Lucy did not enter the house after that. She just took a chair and sat in the courtyard to enjoy the sun.
The driver did not leave either. No one spoke then.
As she was basking in the warm sun in the quiet yard, she suddenly found the sense of relaxation she had been missing for a long time.
Indeed, the entertainment industry was a place full of fast-paced lifestyles. Sometimes, she was so busy that she could not tell whether it was day or night. As she worked longer in the industry, she seemed to have lost her life.
Now, she could sit here quietly. Moreover, the person she liked was just beside her, sleeping in the car. She felt peaceful and calm.
She was not sure how much time had passed when a buzzing sound suddenly broke the silence.
Inside the car, Joel frowned slightly. He was at a loss after he opened his eyes and only returned back to his senses after a while.
He first glanced at Lucy and the driver outside the window. Then, he looked at the jacket that had dropped to the floor as he got up. His gaze dimmed.
Finally, he took out the phone from his pocket and answered it.
It was from the company.
There was a very important video conference in the afternoon that he needed to attend it in person. However, everyone had waited for him for more than half an hour, but he still had not shown up. They thought something was wrong, so they were calling to ask.
Joel was explaining circumstances to them as he was getting out of the car. He put the jacket around his arm and said in a low voice on the phone, “I’m coming now. Prepare the meeting agenda first. Alright, see you later.”
He just walked to Lucy after hanging up the phone. Then, he looked down at her and asked, “Why didn’t you wake me up?”
Lucy leaned on the chair in a lazy posture. She squinted at him and merely said, “Um.”
Joel paused for a while. His eyes fell on her bright and clear face, then he suddenly laughed. As he bent over, resting one hand on the arm of her chair, he gently pinched her chin with the other.
The two were facing each other. Their faces were at a distance whereby they could feel each other’s breaths.
She could even see her reflection in his pupils. She then heard his low voice say, “You feel bad for me, don’t you?”
Lucy thought that she had already passed the age whereby her heart would skip a beat. Nonetheless, her heart was thumping quickly because of him at the moment.
She pursed her lips. This was the first time she was not running away from her feelings.
