Spoiled by the President novel Chapter 626

Lucy and Joel had promised to keep their marriage away from public knowledge. If he stepped out to speak up, no one could contain the news of their marriage.

Would that not be going back against her promise to him?

She heaved a long sigh after giving it some thought.

“We can talk about this later. You better subdue all those public opinions first.”

On the other side of the phone, Susan nodded her head.

“Since your relationship with Joel Foster is real, then the whole situation isn’t as scary anymore. I was panicking earlier as I was worried that it was all fake. You know what this circle is like…”

Lucy faintly laughed.

She understood what Susan meant.

If her true intention was to tackle Joel Foster to grab a higher social status, she would eventually leave a trail of scandals all over the place no matter the ending. She would have to face and clean the mess up herself.

Her current situation was different. Joel and she were lawfully married husband and wife.

Susan could clear the air with much fewer scruples.

Lucy breathed in deeply and said, “Sorry for the inconvenience, Ms. Susan.”

Susan bobbed her head and asked, “Do you happen to know who is the culprit behind this? Do tell me if you know any information. That would save my time from going around to investigate. No matter the result, the fastest way is to directly deal with the root of the cause.”

When she mentioned this, Lucy’s eyes brimmed with coldness.

“Don’t need to go directly to her. I know who the culprit is. She will not give up nor let go.”

Susan was surprised to hear her say that.

“Refuse to give up? What does that mean?”

Lucy felt helpless. She had to explain Jada Swanson’s situation to her.

Susan deliberated over the situation after hearing what she had to say.

This situation was quite depressing.

However, Joel Foster was inevitably dragged into this mess. He was the director of Anning International which meant that he was her highest-ranking boss.

Susan did not know how to respond at that moment.

“If that is the case, I will have to give up on pursuing my original idea of investigation.”

Lucy agreed and they both discussed a bit further on the matter before they hung up.

She heaved a long sigh of relief after she hung up.

Lucy was about to go back to her bedroom but was shocked when she turned.

Joel Foster had his arms crossed against his chest while leaning onto the door frame. She did not know how long he had stood there.

He was still clad in his pajamas from last night. A black silk pajama was loosely draped over his body.

The faint warm rays of the early morning sun burst through the window and fell on his face. He suddenly looked godlike.

Lucy looked at him in a daze. She soon came to her senses and asked, “You’re awake?”

Joel Foster nodded and walked over. He hugged her from behind.

“Was that Susan?”

His line of sight fell onto the phone she was holding onto.

Lucy was not sure how much he had heard from their earlier conversation.

She could only nod her head in response.

“I’ve heard everything.”

He rested his chin on her shoulder. His whole body was still in a lazy state from having just got out of bed. There was a charm to his big kid aura.

He said in a husky voice, “Sorry Lulu, I brought you trouble.”

Lucy was still dejected by what happened that day.

When she heard him speaking in a pouty manner, she could not understand why but the grey clouds hidden within her cleared instantly. She could not contain herself from puffing out and chuckling.

“That’s right, you brought trouble to me. How are you going to compensate me for that?”
