Mama Katz was also tired from crying, she did not have the energy to cry any longer.
Lucy Katz was afraid that her mother’s emotions would affect her health, so she went to pour a glass of warm water and asked her to drink it.
It took a while before she asked with concern, "Mom, how are you feeling? Are you alright?"
Mama Katz nodded. "I'm fine."
There was a pause before Mama Katz looked at Lucy and smiled happily. "Today, my long-cherished dream has finally been fulfilled after all these years. It simply feels too good to be true. I was just too happy just now, so you don't have to worry about me."
Although Lucy nodded, she still could not help but comfort her mother.
"Mom, it's good that you're happy. As long as you're happy, everything’s worth it."
Mama Katz was silent for a moment, then she asked, "How did you get Fourth Cecil to agree to sign this agreement?"
If Lucy knew Fourth Cecil, then Mama Katz knew him better than Lucy did.
She knew how rogue that man truly was.
Now that Fourth Cecil had been sentenced to death, all he had left was to wait for death. If he could still trouble them both before he died, he would most certainly do it.
Therefore, in her opinion, Fourth Cecil would not easily agree to a divorce.
The truth was just as she expected.
However, in this world, one mountain would always be higher than another.
Lucy told Mama Katz everything that had happened over at the prison that day.
After Mama Katz heard this, her entire body froze for a moment before she burst out laughing.
"Thanks for thinking of threatening him with this."
Lucy laughed proudly.
"Of course, people like him are greedy and afraid of death. The more benefits you give him, the more he will stomp on you. To deal with this type of person, you have to use the most ruthless means. Isn’t he most afraid of pain? If he doesn't sign it, I won't let him die and I’ll send someone to guard him every day instead. He’ll just have to endure his addiction and I’ll get someone to beat him up once in a while without killing him. Just beat him half to death and let him have a taste of the pain of a thousand cuts. I’ll make him feel that living is worse than death."
Mama Katz smiled as she said, "Sorry to trouble you."
She knew what kind of person Lucy was. If it was not for herself, Lucy would not have been able to do such a thing.
Lucy sighed.
She reached out, took her mother's hand, and placed it in her palm.
"Mom, stop telling me that you’re sorry or thank you and whatnot. I'm your daughter. You raised me from a young age, and you also protected me well in such a difficult time. You never let me take a beating, nor did you let me suffer any harm. In fact, I should be the one to thank you."
Lucy truly felt that it was miraculous that she grew up with such a scummy stepfather, yet other than living a frugal life, she had never been physically harmed in any way.
Fourth Cecil had beaten Mama Katz but did not dare to hit Lucy.
That was because Mama Katz once stood in front of Fourth Cecil with a knife in her hand and told him that it did not matter how he treated herself.
However, if he dared to even touch a single hair on her daughter's head, she would die with him!
This showed how much Mama Katz loved her one and only daughter over the years.
It was because of her threat that Fourth Cecil did not dare to take that final step.
In fact, he only hurt Lucy after Mama Katz became sick and Lucy came out to work on her own.
Whenever she thought of this, Lucy got emotional.
The two of them sat and talked for a while longer until it was almost evening. Only then did they go downstairs for dinner.
The next day, Lucy was worried that her mother would be bored at home, so she took her out to go shopping.
