Xavier kept his mouth shut and was without a word in the face of his wife’s fury.
No longer encouraging her to eat, he instead turned his eyes away and buried his head in his food.
Natalie grew more furious at this sight!
All of the sudden, she bolted over and swept the dishes in front of Xavier off the table.
The glass, bowls, and plates containing soup and food smashed onto the ground in a crash.
Sauce and soup covered Xavier from head to toe by the dishes spilled on the ground.
He was first caught by surprise but his expression quickly turned glum.
Calmly staring at the angry Natalie, he solemnly asked, “What’s the meaning of this?”
Natalie rebuked in fury, “Eat, eat, eat! All you know is eat! Can’t you think of anything else apart from this?”
The wrinkle between Xavier’s brows deepened.
All the more he felt that his wife was beyond unreasonable today.
He wearily kneaded his brow while suppressing his anger within before speaking in a gruff voice, “Nat, I really don’t want to argue with you.”
Natalie froze.
With a sudden grievance and heartache sneaking up on her, her eyes turned red.
She coldly smirked. “Yes, when did you ever consider it worthwhile to fight with me? What am I? I guess I don’t even have the right to get you to open up that royal mouth of yours! Fine, I don’t count on you for anything. You want to eat, right? I’ll get them to prepare a new meal for you! Go stuff your face! I won’t bother you. That’s all, bye-bye.”
With that, she turned around to walk away.
Tears came rolling down the moment she turned around.
Xavier watched the receding figure of his disappointed wife with a frown. He still did not get to the bottom of the reason she was angry.
Still, with a frown, he sat within four walls of silence for a while before instructing the maids to come in and clean up the dining hall while he headed out.
Once he was outside, Xavier whipped out his phone and called his assistant.
“Derek, help me check where the missus went today and who she met. Give me a detailed account after you’ve investigated.”
Xavier’s assistant worked fast.
Moreover, Natalie’s itinerary the whole day was fairly straightforward.
Even without really sticking his fingers into anything, he found out after just asking around.
Xavier listened to his subordinate’s report through the phone and frowned.
Lucy Katz...
It was her?
Joel’s young wife came head-to-head with Nat?
Struck by a thought, Xavier helplessly sighed.
Even judges had a hard time mediating a family dispute. He, the chairman of Foster Corporation, only had headaches dealing with family matters.
Nevertheless, now that he figured out the crux of the problem, he could not possibly sit idly by.
With that in mind, Xavier gave Joel a call.
“Joel, bring your wife along and come home to have a meal together this weekend! Since you guys are married, you should bring her home for us to meet her. Yes, then it’s decided.”
...
Hence, Joel took Lucy back to the Foster Residence that weekend.
By right, they should not have returned based on the agreement between Natalie and him.
However, Xavier personally called and promised on the phone that this matter would not affect the promise between them.
They were his parents after all. It was not right to not return now that he was married.
