Vickie twisted hard, but it did not budge.
Someone must have locked it from the outside.
This was also within her expectations. She thought about it and did not try the door again. Instead, she followed the door frame, fumbling inch by inch.
At this time, not far from the cabin, inside a villa, a man sat in front of the monitor with a glass of red wine in his hand. He drank while watching the picture on the monitor.
The screen showed the dilapidated wooden house and the woman who was struggling and feeling around the wall bit by bit. She seemed to be focusing on hearing something as she fumbled.
He could not help but raise his eyebrows. “What’s she doing?”
Behind him, a man with a silver mask on his face stood there with his arms folded and said, “Probably observing the environment.”
The man was surprised. Then, he laughed. “Interesting.”
The man in the silver mask looked at her and asked, “Caporegime, there’s one thing I’ve never really understood. Why do we have to capture her?”
The other man’s voice lowered. “What? Are you afraid?”
The masked man frowned. “It’s not that I’m afraid, but that Graham man is looking for her like a madman. He’s taken out several of our caporegimes and searches every nook and cranny without discrimination. I’m worried that as time passes, he’ll find some trace and be led to us. When that time comes…”
“What are you afraid of?” The caporegime turned to look at him with a smiling gaze. “Do you think our Chinese Association will lose to the third oldest Graham?”
His burning gaze made the masked man lower his head.
“Of course not. I just feel that the current situation is complicated, and another party has been meddling in this matter recently. I’m worried that it’ll be a third party reaping the benefits instead.”
The man turned away with a cold smile. “Don’t worry. No one will be able to reap the benefits aside from us because I’ll never give others that chance.
Then, he took another sip of red wine and looked at the monitor again with sharper eyes.
Upon seeing this, the masked man did not dare to say anything else.
At that moment, there was a knock at the door.
He called, “Enter.”
A tall and thin man strode in. “Lucius, you’re here. I’ve been searching for you.”
Lucius turned around and smiled when he saw who the newcomer was. “Dan Thinple, you’ve been a busy man lately, wandering around the world all day. Why are you suddenly looking for me?” he spoke and stood up, then walked over to pull the visitor in for a polite hug.
Dan smiled sadly. “No matter how busy I am, I’m not as busy as Lucius.”
Instantly, his eyes fell on the surveillance screen in front of him, and he raised his eyebrows in interest. “Hey, how did you get her here?”
Lucius looked at him before turning the screen. “Senior, this is an old acquaintance of yours, your little junior sister. Don’t you feel distressed seeing her in my hands now?”
Dan gave a cool, thin smile. “Why should I be? It’s not like you’re going to kill her.”
Lucius froze. Then, he burst out laughing. He reached out to pat Dan’s shoulder and said, “You’re right. I’m only following the boss’s orders and captured her to exchange her for something else. I’m not sure about the other details, but don’t worry. I know that she’s your junior sister. When we get what we want, I’ll naturally release her then. I won’t let her suffer.”
Then, he even wiggled his eyebrows ambiguously.
However, Dan acted as if he did not see it and picked up a piece of fruit on the table to munch on. He said slowly, “Let’s get down to business. I didn’t come to find you today without a purpose.”
