Gideon's face was serious when he asked, "What’s the condition?"
"To help him find the Arcane jade."
These words startled Gideon as if it surprised him.
With a smirk, Nell said, "Are you surprised as well?"
Gideon nodded.
"From your description, this person doesn’t seem very old, but his status is very high and seemingly beyond this world. It’s reasonable to say that he’s not interested in those immortality rumors. After all, as long as a person has a brain, they should be able to figure out that this rumor’s just a huge lie.
“It’s a bait to lure those who delude themselves into thinking about immortality, when in fact, nothing in this world is eternal. Who can truly live forever? So the reason he’s looking for the Arcane Jade is either a joking remark or the Arcane Jade is not at all like what the outside world says about immortality. Instead, it has another function."
Nell nodded in agreement.
"I think so too. Not only that, but he must be the only one who knows its function. Now, I have a bold guess."
Gideon looked at her and asked, "What is it?"
"I think it's possible that he actually planned and directed the whole thing from start to the end. From the time the Arcane Jade first appeared to him asking Gregory and Vickie to help him find it, as well as those god-awful rumors outside. He spread them out himself."
When Gideon heard this, he became very interested.
"Tell me, why would he do that?”
Smiling, Nell said, "It's simple. Didn't he say so? The Arcane Jane has a total of twelve pieces and only when the twelve pieces are assembled that a tremendous amount of energy will generate and a miracle will occur.
“It’s impossible to think that he didn’t look for the remaining six pieces at all over the years, but he must’ve failed. He didn't manage to find them and lost his patience.
“He’s also in a rush to find the remaining six pieces. And that is why he spread the rumors so that everyone will know that there is such a divine object in the world that can bring back the dead and live forever. That way, many people will focus their attention on this divine object, which means more people will be helping him to find it.
“Because of that, there’ll be more news about this divine object. He’ll then carefully sift through them to find reliable ones. The Arcane Jade is in this world anyway, so as long as news got out, someone will take action sooner or later. By then, won’t it make his job so much easier?"
After Gideon heard her explanation, he smiled approvingly.
"Your analysis is spot on. Perhaps that’s how he got his hands on the pieces that he has now, so he can still use this method to continue looking, right? Why does he need Gregory?"
Nell shook her head.
"I don't know, but I'm sure the fact that he only gave Gregory four months means that he cannot wait any longer. After four months, he must gather these twelve pieces of jade to do something very important to him. With his own means and current methods, he’ll never be able to find them all in four months, which is why he needs Gregory to step in."
Gideon digested this for a moment.
"I think you're right."
With a smile, Nell said, "Right?"
"Well, our Nelly’s the smartest."
The man's sudden sweet talk shocked Nell.
Immediately after, her face turned red.
She stared at him and said, "We’re talking about serious things now, don't spout nonsense."
Gideon laughed as he said, "What? Isn't that what I'm talking about? I’m being serious. It's a fact!"
