"Nice! Great technique!"
Nell and the others also applauded. Even Gregory, who did not like the old man, followed suit.
Gideon walked over to Grandpa Brooks and said, “I always knew that you were experienced in the antique business, but I didn’t know that your sword skills were this great!”
Grandpa Brooks, who was in his practice attire, took a look at Gideon and asked, "Want to give it a go?"
Everyone was stunned, but Gideon was not surprised. He just smiled and said, "Sure."
Grandpa Brooks then threw the sword in his hand to Gideon and took another one out for himself. Standing in a ready posture, he sneered.
"Young man, this is a real sword. The blade’s sharp and shows no mercy, so if it cuts you anywhere, you can't hold me responsible."
With a smile, Gideon replied, "Although you’re good with the sword, you’re still old. I won't cut you, but if you accidentally break your back, you can't hold me responsible either."
As soon as Grandpa Brooks heard this, his face immediately sank.
The moment he lifted his sword, he slashed them at Gideon.
The two men immediately became entangled in a fight.
Nell and Gregory were standing on one side, watching with trepidation. They did not expect to see the two of them fight in the blink of an eye when they were fine just a moment ago.
Although it was just a sparring session, it was with a real sword. Gideon had been sitting in his office for years, worrying about business problems. Moreover, none of them had seen this technique before either, so what if he really got hurt?
Nell’s heart leaped to her throat and her hands were clenched tightly. She was so anxious that her palms were sweating profusely.
On the other hand, Gideon was very calm and collected.
Grandpa Brooks was indeed great, but no one knew that Gideon’s sword skills were not too shabby either.
This was because many years ago when he was bored, he saw how good a reclusive master was with a sword and so he followed suit on a whim.
Unexpectedly, he was so hooked that he continued to learn for several years.
Although he had not practiced for so many years, he had a good martial arts background and his memory was also better than most. In a few moves, Gideon was able to recall his technique and fought with Grandpa Brooks on the same level.
The two of them fought each other for about thirty moves.
After all, Grandpa Brooks was old and he gradually became exhausted.
He too did not expect Gideon to be so powerful. His face was tensed up as if he must end the fight and determine a winner no matter what.
However, Nell was worried that the two of them would be injured. After all, they still had to ask Grandpa Brooks for the whereabouts of the Arcane Jade, so it would not be good for either of them to get hurt.
Thus, when it was almost time, she shouted, "Stop when you can."
As soon as she said this, Gideon restrained Grandpa Brooks's sword with a beautiful swift movement, then placed his sword across the old man’s neck.
Grandpa Brooks had lost.
The old man's face was very grim while with a smile, Gideon stepped back, took the sword back, and bowed.
"Grandpa Brooks, good match."
The old man glared at him. He then snorted before he picked up his sword and went inside.
The group of them hurriedly followed him inside.
Since Gideon had been exercising, he was sweating so much that Nell took out a handkerchief to let him wipe his sweat. The four of them were not strangers, so they sat on the chairs in the living room and waited for Grandpa Brooks.
After about 10 minutes, Grandpa Brooks came out.
He had gotten changed and was now wearing a white Tang suit. This look made the slim old man seem like an experienced master.
