"So, it has to be her, right?"
"For now, there's no better choice, so you'll have to put in some effort this afternoon."
As the conversation went on, the text message ringtone of the phone rang again.
Sebastian opened the screen and saw a new message from Stephanie.
"Silver Fox, are you free at noon? My mom insists on going home and wants me to buy groceries. She wants to invite you over for dinner, and she asked me to check with you if you're free!"
Sebastian paused and Martin said, "Boss, don't worry, I'll handle this. But Gracie might be a bit of a headache."
Sebastian typed on his phone screen without looking up, "If you can't handle her, I'll call her myself."
Martin expressed disbelief, "Boss, that's a bit over the top, don't you think?"
"Isn't that little girl's mom still sick? Hasn't she found a matching kidney donor after all this time?"
"There's been no response. I'll call later and ask, but last time I went to the hospital, Mrs. Bishop seemed quite well and her health shouldn't be a problem for a while. There won't be any crisis."
Sebastian nodded, "Mrs. Bishop has been good to me. She often sends me texts to check up on me. If something happens to Stephanie, her mom won't be able to handle it with her poor health, so it has to be Gracie, and she needs to promise to take good care of her."
Martin nodded, "Don't worry, boss. I know what to do."
"Alright, you can leave. I'll be going out for lunch."
"Do you have a lunch appointment, boss?"
"Mrs. Bishop is cooking despite being sick and invited me over for lunch."
Martin quickly smiled, "Not bad, not bad. Looks like your future mother-in-law is already taking you to heart!"
Sebastian's expression would turn weird whenever he heard such words, but he never said anything harsh.
He simply didn't know how to respond to those messages and simply stopped replying.
However, he would wonder about what their children would look like? Would they resemble him or Stephanie?
But such thoughts were fleeting and didn't weigh on him.
At the hospital, Stephanie had been praying for a while, hoping that Sebastian was too busy to come to lunch so her mother wouldn't have to go through all the fuss.
But then, he replied.
Just one word: "Okay."
