Ashley asked in shock, "Steph, do you really know about my past?"
"Why won't you believe me, teach? I've encountered Rebecca on two occasions, and each time, I managed to rile her up without facing any consequences. It's my way of standing up for you and getting back at her. However, what she did to you goes beyond mere revenge," Stephanie explained earnestly, emphasizing the distinction between her actions and the unresolved matter involving Rebecca.
Ashley asked in shock, "You... you actually know Rebecca? Seems like you really know everything."
"So what if I do? Don't worry, teach. If I can hold my own against Rebecca and not get the short end of the stick, it means I've got some solid backing."
"But isn't Steph from an ordinary family? Doesn't she have a sick mom at home?"
"My mom's surgery was successful, and she's back to normal. She's even starting work at Silver Fox's company tomorrow."
"I'm pretty curious now. Who's the Silver Fox in your family?" Ashley was genuinely curious.
It seemed like the Silver Fox from Steph's family was her entire source of confidence.
Being able to hold her own against Rebecca meant Steph's background was definitely not ordinary.
Stephanie winked at her and said, "Curious, huh?"
"Stop teasing me, Steph."
"I'm not telling! If you want to know, you'll have to meet him yourself. Emily, let's go. I'll call our home's Silver Fox and see if he's free for lunch! We'll go eat something yummy!"
With that, she picked up Emily and left.
Ashley stood there, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
She was at her wits' end with this mischievous student.
But this little girl was so endearing and warm.
Having connections was one thing. Now, she even wanted to bring them in to help her.
But for Emily's sake, Ashley was willing to give it a shot.
At the very least, she didn't dare to think too much. Just being able to let Emily get out and see more of the world was enough.
