Marilyn was all smiling. When did her and her daughter's lives become such a sight for sore eyes?
That's life—ever-changing.
Stephanie just hung out in her mom's office for a while, and then a girl made her way to the finance department.
The girl said, “I'm looking for someone who's dressed just like me; she's my sister.”
“So you're Marilyn's daughter too?” Someone in the office asked, surprised.
“I'm not Mrs. Bishop's daughter, but I am her daughter's sister.”
“Wow, you guys are both knockouts. Come on, I'll take you in.”
Upon seeing Emily suddenly show up, Stephanie was a bit ticked off: “Didn't you say you weren't going to stay with me? Why did you come here?”
Emily: “I didn't want to get on your bad side!”
Stephanie: “Why would I be mad? It's actually a bit of a break when you're not around!”
Emily: “Humph, you just love to tease me. A sleeping bag is used to keep you covered when you sleep; that's what Seb told me!”
Stephanie: “Haha, so Silver Fox actually took the time to explain that to you! How patient.”
Emily: “Seb said that if you're sleepy, you can go take a nap. It's still a while before lunch with Mrs. Bishop.”
Stephanie: “Did he really say that?”
Marilyn hastily asked, “Steph, did you not sleep well last night?"
Stephanie: “It's all because Emily doesn't cover herself properly when she sleeps. The weather's cold; I was worried she would catch a cold, so I kept covering her up!”
Marilyn: “Oh, you, stop complaining about Emily. I've also spent quite a few nights covering you up. If you're tired, go rest at Sebastian's office; there's a lounge there.”
“I got it. What about Emily?”
“Emily will stay with me.”
“Alright, I'll go catch some Z's and wake up for lunch. I'm really beat.”
“Off you go then.”
Upstairs, Sebastian was a bit out of sorts.
Gazing at the sleeping girl, Sebastian felt as if the whole world had quieted down.
The winter was cold. But this girl was warm.
Martin walked into the office with a pile of documents, not seeing Sebastian there. He glanced toward the lounge. Then he chuckled to himself and walked out.
At noon, Stephanie was woken up by Sebastian for lunch.
Groggily, she got up from the bed, asking, “What time is it?”
“Don't worry, it's only half past twelve.”
“Oh, did my mom call to hurry me?”
“She did.”
“I'll leave right now, then.” Stephanie got dressed quickly and headed out.
As she was leaving, she invited Martin to join her. Martin just went along with her.
As for Sebastian, he realized it a bit too late. Stephanie was going to have lunch with her mom and had even invited Martin without inviting him.
