"Actually, I can't give you much guidance. Robots in this show are given thoughts. They are part of humans. Understand the character from this angle. Then you should get it."
This statement was pretty deep like he said a lot but also nothing at all.
Emmert listened and let out a bitter smile. Was he pulling my granddaughter's leg?
Stephanie nodded with a look of semi-understanding, "I get it. Thanks."
Sullivan was speechless. He's just talking nonsense!
But Stephanie really did glean some insight from this.
She started trying to put herself in the character's shoes, understanding the character's thought process, in order to better grasp the character's mindset and truly immerse herself in the role.
Sullivan initially didn't think highly of Stephanie, the newcomer. He even somewhat looked down on her. He thought working with her was beneath him. But with her gradual growth, he accepted her as his partner.
Even Emmert became more and more satisfied. After wrapping up a scene, he said with a big grin, "Come here, Steph."
"Grandpa, how was my performance in this scene?"
"Great! I was ready to lose money, but now I'm at least 100% sure I won't lose anything. I might not make much, but at least I won't be in the red."
Stephanie kept silent. Was this a compliment?
She frowned and asked, "So, what should I do to make you money, Grandpa?"
"You need to perform even better in the upcoming scenes! Don't let the audience feel awkward about a newcomer suddenly appearing. Instead, make them feel that no one else could play this role better than you. Then, I can make a fortune."
In this way, people wouldn't say he's using a newcomer because he's old and muddled, but they would praise his discerning eye. The actor he chose was born for this role!
Stephanie said with a bitter smile, "I'll do my best. Don't worry, Grandpa, I'll think more. Sullivan, as your partner, is there anything about me that you're not satisfied with?"
Sullivan didn't look at her but at Emmert and said, "She's not funny. The effect you want probably can't be achieved."
"Wow! Thank you, Sullivan! When are you going to teach me?"
"At night, come to my room. That's when I have time."
Emmert immediately said, "Sullivan, are you asking for trouble? Aren't you afraid of being caught by reporters and causing a stir?"
Sullivan nonchalantly said, "What if I go to her room?"
"What's the difference?"
"The hotel's security is very good. There can't be that many reporters sneaking in."
"But it's not appropriate for you two to be alone late at night!"
Sullivan said impatiently, "Then I won't teach her!"
