"Mom, I get Steph's acting too. When I first met her, she told me that acting was fun because you can choose not to be yourself but to portray someone else. That's why I gradually got better."
Ashley looked at her, her face full of confusion, "Can you give an example?"
"Like, when I don't want to be myself, I pretend to be Steph. After imitating her, I found myself happy every day."
Everyone was silent.
Emily was not an ordinary kid. She was smart; smarter than kids of her age. And she was particularly sensitive. What you thought she didn't understand, she actually did.
Stephanie couldn't help but ask, "So Emily, if you were me, what would you do?"
Emily thought carefully and answered, "If I couldn't distinguish between reality and the character in the play, I'd spend a lot of time trying to tell them apart."
"Take a lot of time?"
"Yes, I would try hard, force myself to distinguish clearly. If I couldn't, I wouldn't sleep! Not being able to sleep is so painful, so I'd definitely be able to tell them apart!"
Stephanie looked at Sebastian and winked, "Sebastian, how about I give it a try tonight?"
Sebastian casually said, "Let Emily stay with you."
"I can help supervise Steph and chat with her!"
"Emily, Steph has another problem right now."
"What's the problem?"
"She can't distinguish between reality and the drama; and the love scenes with Sullivan, it has now evolved into her being unable to fall in love with Sullivan, only liking me."
When he said this, both Ashley and Emily felt that Sebastian was stating the issue, but without any hint of complaints. Instead, he seemed quite pleased.
Ashley couldn't help but scoff, "So that's how it is; that's a serious situation."
"So, Emily, since you have a way, help Steph more. After Steph’s scenes are done, I'll definitely thank you properly. How about it?"
Emily's eyes lit up, "Can I make a condition?"
"Steph, can you take me to the show? It sounds pretty good, but the show requires parents to participate together,"
"Let Sebastian go with you then!”
"But we're not father and daughter."
"Sebastian, any ideas?"
"Wow! Then let's leave it to Sebastian! I can take Emily to that show!"
Emily was caught up in the happy atmosphere; she said joyfully, "Haha. I'm really happy to go to the show with Steph!"
But deep down, she still felt a bit disappointed.
She wondered if her parents would never be together again in this lifetime.
