Chapter 2559
Sometimes, it would be her mother's eldest sister calling her, and sometimes, it would her mother's second sister. Sometimes, it would be those two cousins, who were her maternal uncle's children. Other times, it would be her other cousins, who were her maternal aunts' children, and so on.
If they had called a couple of times, the girl simply did not answer the calls. If they had called too many times, she would sometimes directly switch her phone off.
However, after she switched off her phone for a while, she would switch it back on again.
"Since you don't wish to pick up their calls, why don't you just switch off your phone?" Kingston asked her.
The girl shook her head miserably. "That won't do. I'm still looking for a job. If I were to keep my phone switched off for a long time, I would lose the job opportunity should I have any. I was working in another town. I quit my job when 1 came back two months ago. It's truly very difficult for girls like me, who are uncultured and have no academic background, to find a job in the big city. I can't miss any opportunity."
Kingston did not say anything else anymore.
He had been having a stable job since he was a teenager. He had been working for Sebastian and he had never changed his job. However, Kingston knew how hard it would be for non-locals to find a job in the big city.
He nodded heavily. "That's right. After you've recovered—" Before he finished his words, the girl's phone rang again.
Kingston waves weakly. He did not know if he should tell her to answer the phone or to hang up the call. He looked at the girl while raising his eyebrows.
That time, the girl answered the call. "Hello, aunt, can I help you?"
"Eevonne York! Do you still have a conscience at all? Do you? I loved you so much when you were a child! Is this how you treat your mother? Hurry the hell back! otherwise..."
"Otherwise what?" the girl said suddenly.
On the other end of the call, her aunt was stunned.
"Aunt, you were good to me when I was a child. You did love me, but why did you love me? Why didn't you give your love to the children of other families?
"Did you not love me because I'm my mother's child? Weren't you loving your sister's child?"
On the other end of the call, her aunt was so angry that she shuddered all over. "Is that even something that a person should say?"
"No." The girl smiled. "I'm saying that because I'm an ungrateful bitch!"
"You finally admit that you, as well as the York family, are all ungrateful things?"
The girl chuckled miserably. "I’ve gotten used to being cursed at by all of you anyway. Rather than being cursed by all of you, why don't I just admit it myself? That's right. I'm an ungrateful bitch.
"Since I am an ungrateful bitch, then it's not strange if I've done any ungrateful things, still, you kept making phone calls to an ungrateful bitch. Aunt, aren't you just wasting your emotions?"
Her aunt was speechless.
