She suddenly didn’t want to play along with her anymore and asked, ” Other than visiting me, who else are you visiting?” 

Annie couldn’t answer the question. 

“For example, were you thinking of visiting my husband? To see how he was taking care of me? A blind woman?” Fia’s tone was still very gentle and relaxed. No one could hear what she was feeling at the 

time. 

Annie frowned, as she couldn’t handle Fia’s tone. “I don’t know what 

you’re saying!” 

“You don’t understand my words?” Fia said, her tone slightly icier. “No matter if this is Director Parker’s or your idea, you have an aim yourself, don’t you?” 

Annie took a deep breath. 

“Yes, my father has his own goal! He wants you to return to the household since you have no one else. The Parkers can protect you!” 

“Ha…” Fia chuckled. She found it laughable. 

“As for my own goals… Fine. I have nothing to hide. I admit that my first impression of Mr. Maxwell is very good! Since he’s a very good man! But the reason that I went to Maxwell Corporation is for my own future development! After I found out that he was already married, I buried my own feelings. I am a Parker, and we’re all honest members of society. We’ll never do something so despicable!” 

Fia smiled faintly and made no comment. 

While it sounded like she was being honest with her, she felt that she couldn’t believe it. 

She wondered if the girl was really being honest, or if she was just very good at disguising her intentions. 

After what happened with Esme, she couldn’t easily believe a person. anymore. Even if they shared the same blood. 

Annie stood up and sobbed. “I treat you as family and visit you because we’re cousins. I care about you, and I hope that you can recover quickly! I never thought that this is how you look at me! Annie looked at him sadly. “I didn’t do anything out of line. While you and Silas were busy with Mrs. Maxwell’s matters, I was busy working at the company. I didn’t come here to get yelled at!” 

“Out!” Conrad kicked the chair next to him. “If you’re really innocent, submit your resignation!” 

“Why should I resign? I didn’t do anything wrong!” 

Conrad looked at Fia who said nothing as she lay there. It was as if she was thinking about something, as if she was a spectator watching a show. 

He was worried that she was going to start thinking about things again because of how sensitive she was. He quickly walked over, pulled Annie, and threw her out of the ward. He even threw out the flowers and fruit basket she brought over. 

Annie accidentally fell to the ground. 

When Conrad was throwing the flowers and fruit basket, they hit her legs. He didn’t give her a glance, and gave not even an apology. 

Thinking of how well and patiently he treated Fia, she couldn’t take it at all!
