"Since Paula is safe now, I'll go home."
Lucia immediately voiced her objection, "You can't. Paul has found out that I took Paula away. He could figure out that
you helped. It's too dangerous for you to go home."
Daryl gave a broad smile and gently pushed away Lucia's hand that was gripping her wrist. "What's coming will come,
and we'll meet it when it does."
Lucia still tried to advise her, but August shook his head as a hint for her to not interfere in the matter. Only then did she
give up.
As soon as Daryl left, she said, "Daryl is in a dangerous situation. Paul has the heart to hurt his sister, not to mention
her."
"I've deployed manpower around the house of the Davenport family. We'll be informed if anything happens," August
said. He had thought about that, and she was less worried.
Paul was sitting in the living room of the Davenport's house. Howe Real Estate was just a small company recently
developing in Austos City. His visit interrupted the pleasant atmosphere in the house. Nervous inside, Dylan didn't show
it on the surface. Facing the young upstart, he did his best to maintain his demeanor.
"Mr. Thomas, I wonder what I can do for you."
Paul restrained his ferocity, showing his gentlemanly manner and his respect for the man. "Mr. Davenport, has Daryl
ever mentioned me to you?"
As his daughter was involved, Dylan got more vigilant. He had heard Daryl talking about the Thomas family before, but
she was only on good terms with Ms. Thomas. After taking over Cloud Technology, this man immediately had it go
public, which meant that he was not as gentle and harmless as he looked. No one could survive the business world
without getting his hands dirty.
"You're joking. Our family is running a small business. How can my daughter possibly know a higher-up like you?" Dylan
talked in a roundabout way, and Paul was getting impatient.
This geezer was not as easily hoodwinked as his daughter. Unwilling to waste his time, Paul got down to business. "I've known your daughter for quite some time, and she has frequently been to my house. We grow fond of each other.
I'm here today in hope of getting your approval."
Dylan's face changed slightly. His wrinkled hand stroked the cup as he thought to himself. Up to no good, this man was
here today to give him pressure. He had no idea why Paul approached his daughter, but she had never mentioned this
man. It indicated her disapproval. He pondered for a long time before a gracious smile appeared on his face. "Mr. Thomas, this is a joke, right? Nowadays, young people no longer need the seniors' permission to date. I won't
interfere with her freedom."
"Dad, I'm back." While they were talking, Daryl's voice came from the hallway.
She tiredly came into the living room and habitually acted like a spoiled child. She looked up, only to meet the last person
she wanted to see. Her legs instantly felt weak, and she didn't dare to take another step. A flicker of hostility flashed
across Paul's eyes. His calculations were undisguised when he looked sideways at her.
With his back toward Dylan, he said gently, "Daryl, you won't blame me for the sudden visit, right?" Unnerved, she didn't dare to make eye contact with him. She looked away and met Dylan's eyes which were filled with
concern. She clenched her teeth, feeling guilty for making her father worry. She forced a smile to reassure Dylan. She walked to her father with heavy steps and bit the bullet. "Dad, Mr. Thomas is my friend. I haven't gotten the time to
introduce him to you."
She laid her eyes on Paul and said in a distant tone, "Mr. Thomas, what brings you here?"
Paul's eyes were locked on her. He sounded soft, but there was a tinge of coldness in his voice. "Aren't you clear why I'm

The atmosphere in the room fell to the freezing point. Her heart was in her throat. She was afraid that he would say
something to irritate her father.
Unexpectedly, he indulgingly stroked her hair and softly said, "We've been together for some time. Aren't you going to
acknowledge our relationship?"
Her breath hitched in her throat, and bitterness rose from the bottom of her heart. If she didn't know Lucia's existence,
she would be the happiest woman in this world when she heard that. Now his words only brought her endless fear. She
worked with Lucia to help Paula escape. Without a doubt, this man would not let her off the hook. He remarked like this
