Chapter 780 What good stuff did she bring?
Seeing that August ignored her, Currer could not help but take the lead in opening her mouth and greeting August in coquetry.
The office was so quiet that even a needle dropping to the ground could be clearly heard.
Finally, Currer failed to retain her composure. She walked over to August slowly and put a tablet PC on which a video was playing on his desk.
August lifted his eyes and landed them on the video.
It was the scene when Lucia and Currer were in the coffee shop the other day.
In the video, Lucia didn't have the usual tenderness in the video but was wearing a very unkind look. She was constantly bullying Currer. Currer appeared angry, but she didn't mean to fight back.
After August watched it, he drew his eyes back to the unfinished documents again.
Currer's mind went blank seeing August like this. She slowly opened her mouth and said, "Lucia always plays the weak in front of you. In fact, this is her true face. Don’t be fooled by her.”
"Why are you so nosy?" August's indifferent voice slowly sounded.
Currer looked at him stupefied when she heard this. She seemed puzzle about why August reacted like this.
A normal person would feel fooled when he saw this video. Why could he be so calm, as if he already knew all of it?
"August, do you trust Lucia so much?" She spoke in a hurry, "Even if she lied to you, you wouldn't care?”
"What does my woman have to do with you?” He asked with an icy tone as his eyes turned even colder.
At these words, Currer's heart immediately tightened. Without thinking, she rushed to August's desk and glared at him with her wide-open eyes, "What ecstasy did Lucia give you, August? So that you can ignore the evidence and blindly favor her?!”
"Evidence?" August sneered. Then he suddenly got up and grabbed Currer by the chin and asked coldly, "Since you want to accuse her, why did you send the video to me until now?"
"I...” Currer paused.
She couldn't say she had dealt with more important things.
The development of things and August's ideas seemed to have deviated from her presupposed track. She had no idea that August's first reaction when he saw this evidence was not to doubt Lucia, but to doubt her!
With a sharper look in August's eyes, he pushed Currer away unceremoniously and questioned her in a cold voice, "This is not a surveillance video from the store. Where did you get this?"
Currer stumbled back several steps. When her eyes met August's gloomy eyes, her heart had sunk to the bottom. Only then did she calm down. She took a deep breath and responded slowly, "It's an anonymous email I just received this morning."
In order to make it convincing, she forced herself to look into August’s indifferent eyes, "I’ve always wanted to expose Lucia's true face, but didn't get any evidence before. I immediately showed it to you after receiving this email today, just for fear that you would be cheated by that woman!"
Anonymous mail...
August seemed to come up with something. He changed the discourse and there was less bitter feeling in his tone, "If there is nothing else, Ms. Sullen could return now."
Currer was obviously aware of the change in his tone. She couldn’t help feeling joyful in her heart. She added in a tender voice, "August, that woman stayed with you with ulterior motives. I hope you can see it clearly sooner."
"You are the same as before. You haven't changed.” August responded with a heavy voice, "I know this matter fairly well. Thank you for making this trip."
Catching the consideration and courtesy in his tone, Lucia's clenched brows began to uncurl gradually and her prior rejection noticeably lowered, "Mr. Shea helped me before, and I said I would try my best to help you."
Despite what she said, Edmund's tone sounded more nervous than relaxed, "There is a very important party of the political circle for me tonight, but I don't have a suitable female companion. I wonder if it’s convenient for you.”
"I..." She was about to refuse, and came up with something on second thought. She changed the discourse and asked, "What kind of party is it?"
"It’s a cocktail party within our agency. Basically, it's all high-level personnel. It's somewhat unreasonable without a female companion." He responded awkwardly.
Lucia thought about it for several seconds while her brain was running fast. If it was a high-level party of the political circle, she would definitely get to know some key individuals. Maybe there was someone who could save the Lion group documents that were being stuck overseas.
It was better to solve this matter through others than to trouble Edmund repeatedly.
Thinking of this, Lucia gave Edmund a positive reply in a low voice.
Edmund breathed a sigh of relief, and his tone was much lighter, "Then please send me the address. I'll pick you up later. I’ve already prepared the formal dress for you, just in time for you to try the size."
"No, thank you." There was a touch of alienation in Lucia's gentle voice, "Just send me the address, Mr. Shea. I’ll come to you directly."
"But..."
Edmund meant to say something else. Lucia immediately interrupted him and relied half-jokingly, "You wouldn't think I don't even have a decent dress, would you?”
"I’m just afraid that it's too hasty." He explained quickly.
After hanging up the phone, Edmund's eyes slowly fell on the gift box lying on the front passenger seat. His eyes swelled with wrath and other negative emotions as a result of being rejected.
