Substitute Bride and Her Husband Who Disappeared novel Chapter 104

Charlie, with a weighty glance, looked at Vivian who had taken his arm. A meaningful smile tugged at the corner of his lips. "Of course, I should treat my wife well. Otherwise, if she feels bullied, she might look for comfort in the arms of another man. I wouldn't want to be betrayed, now would I?"

Vivian's smile froze instantly, her contact-lensed eyes trembling slightly. She studied Charlie's expression carefully, trying to discern if he was joking or if he knew something.

But all she could read from Charlie's face was a smile, as if his words were merely a joke.

"Ha...ha..."

She laughed awkwardly, quickly averting her gaze and avoiding Charlie's eyes. "Why, how could I ever do such a thing?"

"Right!"

Alexander joined the conversation, a mocking smile crossing his face. "How could our respectable Vivian ever fool around with a wild man?"

He chuckled to himself. He was, after all, that 'wild man' who had taken Vivian's virginity.

He couldn't help but chuckle to himself, feeling a sense of superiority. In his eyes, Charlie was nothing more than a joke, and the satisfaction and vanity he experienced were unmatched.

It was a first for Alexander to feel such satisfaction and vanity over a woman.

After all, who in the country would dare to covet Charlie's woman?

Vivian shot Alexander a furious glare. His insinuating tone was clearly designed to sow discord and cause misunderstandings between her and Charlie.

"Ha...ha..."

Director Grant, sensing the tension building, quickly stepped forward to break the ice. "Young Master Firth, it's a pleasure to have you here today. You must join us for a drink!"

"Yes, indeed..."

The others, who had been waiting for an opportunity to cozy up to Charlie, echoed in agreement.

"Young Master Firth, it's an honor to have you here. We must all share a drink with you today!"
