It's not every day you come across an opportunity that's almost too good to pass up.
But knowing Luna and her dubious character, Nancy was anything but convinced that Luna had anything good in store.
"Luna, I'm sorry, but I can't agree to this."
In the past, such a rejection would have been enough to rouse Luna's anger. Surprisingly though, Luna responded with a friendly smile.
"Why the rush to say no, Nancy?"
Luna said, lightly patting Nancy's hand. "I promise that if you can cover for Vivi for just one week, I'll do everything I can to help you with your father's issue."
Nancy's gaze snapped up to meet Luna's. "You mean…"
Luna nodded with a sly smirk. "You know as well as I do that every time you bring up your father. Vivi finds some excuse to avoid the topic. If you agree to my request. I promise to follow through."
Nancy fell silent.
Regarding Day's matter, Vivi has indeed gone too far over the past three years.
In addition, the written promise that Nancy had obtained from Vivi and Lily had been ruined by heavy rain, the words blurred beyond recognition. If Vivi reneged on her promise this time, Nancy would have no way to hold her accountable.
With these thoughts in mind, Nancy exhaled heavily. "Okay, I'll agree. But Luna, you better keep your word."
"Of course."
With a smile, Luna patted Nancy's shoulder and sent a glance towards Charlie, who was standing nearby. "Enjoy your evening," she said with a hint of ambiguity.
Afterwards, she stepped into the open elevator and waved cheerfully at Charlie and Nancy before the doors closed. Her heavily made-up face was all smiles.
