"That’s quite an easy answer, don’t you think?
You have been constantly telling me how I need to deal with him, yet never once did you suggest anything useful. Doesn’t that make you useless?
Why should I even keep you in my Council?"
Sharnoth snapped, surprising the rest of her Council Members. None of them had seen her react like this before. Yes, there were times when the Queen had gotten angry, but never because someone counselled her.
Also, this wasn’t the first time Maeve did it. The Nocthari was always quick to call out if she didn’t like how things were playing out, and most of the time, she was correct.
Even Sharnoth herself took her words seriously and acted on them.
But...
For the Queen to react like this...
The Council Members were intimidated—well, everyone but Maeve herself. The woman was incapable of feeling such emotions, after all.
Even in this situation, she stayed logical.
"You keep me in the Council because I speak my mind, and when I do, it benefits you."
She answered in a straightforward manner, and she wasn’t done.
"Ever since I joined you, I rarely gave you the solution to the problem. I admit, that is not my strong suit, especially when compared to you, who has a knack for finding creative solutions to the problems we have faced before.
I have only been useful in detecting the problem before it became too big, which I did this time around as well—just that you have yet to solve this problem."
"..."
"..."
Silence.
Absolute silence fell in the Council Room.
Sharnoth glared at the Nocthari, Nocthari stared back. She could tell that her words had offended the Queen. However, she also knew the Queen wouldn’t do anything.
The Queen simply lost her calm for a moment, but she wasn’t the type to take her anger out on her subordinates.
And once again, the Nocthari was correct.
Sharnoth closed her eyes for a moment and then,
"Send our men to Vladnir, remove the Godspark, free them of the Chaotic Energy, and take the Teleportation Portal back.
From this day forth, Vladnir has nothing to do with Khaemorr."
"As you command, My Queen."
Varys nodded.
Sharnoth nodded and,
"You are dismissed."
She dismissed the meeting.
Once again, it surprised the Council Members. After all, there were still a few more matters to discuss. Maeve even glanced at Sharnoth and was about to say something but,
"You are dismissed."
The Queen repeated herself, and in an instant, the Meeting Room was emptied.
Sharnoth, now left alone, clenched her trembling fists in anger.
"Two months..."
She muttered out loud.
"It has been two months since I have been following your plan. All this time, I have been waiting patiently for your trap to work and getting my hands on one of his wives and yet...
Nothing.
I have got nothing."
The Queen spoke in a low, calm voice. Her overflowing anger, however, could still be sensed.
"Be patient, Sharnoth."
Zylarith spoke calmly.
"Patient?"
"Yes."
"They declared that they have formed an alliance with the Leander Family. The Leander Family has agreed to become their Secret Weapon that will purge the Evil from the Universe."
