Anya was cooking up a storm, sweat dripping down her back. "Chad, you're home! Try the spaghetti Bolognese I whipped up today."
"In this heat, why didn't you open the kitchen window? You're drenched! Here, wipe yourself off," Leo said, handing Anya a paper towel.
"I also stir-fried a couple of dishes," Anya explained. "I didn't want the cooking smells to spread, so I kept the door closed."
"But we've got an exhaust fan, silly. Go take a shower; you don't want to catch a chill from the temperature change."
Leo adjusted the air conditioning to make it a bit warmer, while Anya headed to the bathroom.
Soon, she emerged wrapped in a bath towel, and Leo just shook his head in silent protest—she clearly didn't see him as a threat.
Anya was about to head to the balcony, still in her towel, to grab a fresh nightgown. Leo quickly scooped her up and carried her back inside. "What are you thinking? I'll get it. You shouldn't be wandering around like that."
Anya pouted. "No one's gonna see me. I'm still wrapped in a towel, you know."
Leo glanced at Anya's damp shoulders, almost regretting his past indifference. Her freshly showered look, with flushed cheeks and wet lashes, made her seem almost ethereal, testing his self-control. With a gulp, he headed to the balcony to grab her nightgown.
He then went to the bathroom, opened the window, and mopped up the water on the floor.
Not long after, Anya changed into her nightgown and came out to clean, only to find her boyfriend had already finished the job. "Chad, I made that mess."
