The servant scored another three-day break, having barely worked half the month.

That afternoon, Annie woke up. Truth be told, she'd been awake since noon but was too tangled up in her thoughts about Conner to leave the comfort of her bed. Frustrated, she gave herself a playful whack on the head. "Why did I blurt out those words like a fool? I must be losing it."

After hours of hiding under the covers, she finally gathered the courage to face an overly excited Conner.

"Annie, you must be starving. Here, let me bring you breakfast in bed," Conner said, doting on her like she was royalty.

Mortified, Annie covered her face with her hands, unable to meet his gaze.

Conner chuckled, "Why so shy? We were pretty open with each other last night. Come on, hands down, let's eat."

Annie shook her head, feeling an overwhelming wave of bashfulness. She couldn't fathom why she felt so shy, given she wasn't exactly a teenager anymore.

Conner perched on the edge of the bed, "It was my first time too. No need to be shy."

Annie's cheeks flushed a deeper shade of red.

Conner teased, "How about we revisit last night's lovely memories?"

People often say Conner’s full of himself, always claiming Annie loves him, but no one buys it.

Yet, Conner knows better than anyone. Feelings don’t lie. Annie must care for him; otherwise, she wouldn’t be so conflicted. Plus, she’s not one to string people along. A stunning cop like her wouldn’t have stayed single all these years without any suitors. So far, Annie’s only ever been seen with him. Despite finding him annoying at times, she always responds.

"Correction, love me." Spending too much time with the servant, Conner had picked up some of his quirks.

Annie, unable to take it anymore, gave him a playful kick. "Out you go."
