Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 274

Andre asked worriedly, "What are you doing? You didn't respond to my messages."

"Ah, I was having a chat so didn't check my phone." Mia said.

"You didn't meet with Leo or Molly, did you?" Andre asked.

Mia swore she didn't. Andre responded, "Come find me at the office when you're done."

"Okay, darling, see you." Mia said.

Mia returned to the hospital room and told the patient in the bed, "Michael, I'm leaving. You should take some rest."

Michael stopped her, "Hey, I thought we had a nice chat. Let's exchange contacts. If you ever want to go ghost hunting, I can arrange it. I promise not to scare you."

Mia retorted, "You need to have the nerve to scare me first. As long as you're not afraid of ending up back here."

Nevertheless, she took out her phone and exchanged contacts with Michael. She looked at Michael with a mischievous grin.

Michael nervously said, "Your smile makes me hesitate to save your number."

Mia suddenly thought of some people and said, "You might be able to help me in the future. If that opportunity arises, I'm willing to pay to hire you."

Michael replied, "Can I delete you from my contacts now?"

Mia waved him off and left cheerfully. She had been feeling guilty for a couple of days, but after talking to Michael, she felt a lot better. She happily ran off to find her husband at the office.

It was holiday time at the company. Havenbrook's train stations and airports were packed. Cars stretched in long lines at the highway entrance.

Mia, a native of Havenbrook, didn't need to leave. Molly usually packed her bags to visit her grandparents at this time of the year. This year, the elderly couple were spending Christmas in Havenbrook. Grandpa Elmer was already discharged from the hospital and back in good health.

Chad sorted out the police station's shifts and was also off duty.

Donnie asked, "Sir, why don't you go home on Christmas Eve and let us go home instead?"

Chad answered impatiently, "Just go. If you want to stay, you can work the night shift and I'll go home."

"No, I'm going home. My girlfriend is waiting for me." Donnie said.

Donnie quickly left. Only two senior officers and two rookies were left.

"Captain, it should be Bob's turn to work this Christmas. Why are you covering for him?" Someone asked Chad.

Chad took a piece of toast from the fridge, their dinner for the night.

"Bob's wife just had their second child. Making him work, especially on Christmas Eve, would be inhumane." As Chad nibbled on his toast he continued, "I'm a loner, with no family, no kids and no wife. At least I have you guys for company while on duty."

Another officer asked, "Captain, won't your sister come looking for you at the station? You used to spend every Christmas with her."

Chad thought of Molly and said, "She's probably having dinner right now."

Just as he finished his piece of toast and reached for another, one of the officers pointed towards the door where a girl in a hat stood, "Ha, speak of the devil, here she is coming to find her brother."

Molly appeared at the door, wrapped in a scarf and holding a thermal food box.

Chad was surprised by the teasing and turned to see his sister at the door, her face half-covered by a scarf, showing a pair of eyes that looked slightly upset, and holding a thermal food box.
