Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance novel Chapter 449

Cecilia’s face was flushed red, not out of embarrassment, but from the hot soup. “Who said my son was harassing you? My son would be blind to give you a second glance! You’re just like your mother. A couple of sluts. Even if the Ashford family fell upon hard times, we wouldn’t resort to the likes of you.”

After uttering these words, Cecilia was oblivious to the cold bead of sweat that trickled down her son’s forehead in the midst of the scorching summer day. Did his mother lack any sense of discernment? Wasn’t she curious about why Andre had shown up? Was she blind to the fact that Andre had deliberately sat next to Molly to lend support to his sister?

Jack was aware of Molly’s real identity but chose not to reveal it to his mother. He knew of his mother’s gambling nature and feared that she might accidentally spill the beans about Molly during some idle chit-chat around the poker table. If that happened, not only would he have a hard time courting Molly, but his list of rivals would also grow. So, he kept it a secret.

Yet, even with Andre standing right in front of his mother, she dared to publicly denounce Molly in the conference room. What a foolish woman.

Jack’s mind was racing, trying to figure out a way to handle the situation.

Mia tried to make herself as inconspicuous as possible, staying cool and acting the part of Andre’s obedient wife. However, curiosity got the better of her. Her bright, lively eyes darted around the room. Two of the police officers looked familiar; they had taken her statement before. They were Chad’s men, so there was nothing to worry about.

The mother and son from the Ashford family were a pitiable pair. Picking a fight with Molly was truly lamentable.

Mia’s gaze then fell on Coleen. She tilted her head, leaning forward to get a better look. Coleen appeared pale and weak, as if she was unwell.

On any other day, Molly wouldn’t have hesitated to retort. Today, however, she remained eerily silent. “Your son has poor taste and he’s smitten with me. He’d be willing to die for me.”

“You’re talking nonsense, you bitch. You’re a slut, seducing my son. You’re nothing but a common tramp. If you seduce my son again, I’ll kill...”

Suddenly, the conference room fell silent. Jack had slapped his mother, and the room instantly quieted down.

Cecilia was left stunned, clutching her cheek and staring at her son in disbelief. Her son had just struck her.

Even Mia was shocked by this development. She moved her chair closer to her husband and nestled her hand into his arm, cooing in a baby voice, “Honey, he’s hitting people. I’m scared.”

The room was silent. Even the police officers, who had previously crossed paths with Mia, were taken aback.Mia, who had a record for being involved in brawls, was scared of seeing people hit each other?

Andre turned to look at little Mia, who was intentionally reminding him to stay calm. “It’s okay.”

Earlier, when Cecilia was berating his sister, his fist had clenched tightly. Even his knuckles turned white. Mia sitting beside him must have noticed. She cuddled up to him, probably telling him not to lose his temper.

In dealing with such people, resorting to violence at this moment would be foolish. Even his typically brash sister knew better than to retaliate physically or verbally at this point. Andre looked at his wife beside him, unsure of how to praise her.

Feigning ignorance of Molly’s true identity, Jack stood up and apologized to Coleen. “I apologize, Coleen. I apologize on behalf of my mother to you and Jade. She didn’t mean it. She was just too impulsive.”
