Molly suddenly realized, "When it comes to devotion, our family's got it in spades—like, beyond the usual level."
Mia gave her siblings a playful wink, looking as cute as a button. Molly couldn't help but gush, "Seriously, if I were Andre, I'd be head over heels for you too, no way I'd ever leave."
"Oh shoot! I totally forgot about my husband. I need to call him and let him know not to wait for me for dinner. You guys go ahead and order; I'll just step out for a sec."
Driving home during the evening rush, traffic was a nightmare. Even someone as high-powered as Andre couldn't escape the gridlock. In the back seat, little Henry was sulking because he hadn't seen his mom all day. Andre asked, "Should we grab something for Mom on the way back?"
Henry turned to find his dad, curious about the conversation. Just then, Andre's phone rang, "Hey, Mia, what do you feel like eating? I'm heading home... Oh, okay, enjoy dinner."
After he hung up, Andre's tone had a hint of disappointment as he glanced at his son gazing out the window, "Looks like it's just us for dinner, buddy. Mom's not joining."
Henry reached out with his little hand, muttering, "Dada." Andre suddenly felt a twinge of reluctance to head home. "Your godfather's around; let's go see him instead."
Stuck at an intersection, he called Conner, "Where you at?"
"The sun must've risen in the west for you to call me first."
Andre replied, "I've got my son with me."
"Regency Hotel, our usual spot."
Sure enough, his son was the perfect "VIP pass."
In no time, Andre carried his little guy into the elevator. Hungry Henry began nibbling on his dad's cheek as they rode up, something Andre was quite used to.
When they met Conner, he opened his arms, "Come here, kiddo, give Uncle Conner a hug." But to Henry, Conner was just a stranger trying to snatch him away, so he clung tighter to Andre, wailing.
Andre, cradling his clingy munchkin, happily said, "My family's a bit on the timid side."
Conner was taken aback! "With you as his dad and her as his mom, and you're saying he's timid?"
Conner's comment seemed to take a dig at the whole family, but Andre just let it slide. After a couple of crying fits, Henry cemented his reputation for being "timid."
The two men and the baby settled in for a meal at the hotel. Conner joked, "We look like a couple with an adopted kid."
Without a highchair, Andre had his son on his lap, feeding him bits of food now and then. Conner quipped, "I'm the dad, you're the mom. Look at you, being all domestic, feeding our child."
Andre, with a tender look at Henry but firm words for Conner, said, "If you don't want to end up bedridden, you'd better zip it."
Conner: "..."
Henry grabbed his dad's fork, trying to chew on it. Conner quickly took it away, asking, "So, where's your wife?"
"She's out having fun."
"Oh, so she ditched you two, huh? No wonder you're here with the kid," Conner remarked with a smirk.
Henry opened his mouth, waiting for more food. Andre, unfazed, handed him a piece of broccoli, "Here, you hold it."
Chatting with Conner, he asked, "Did you sort things out at home?"
"Not really. Maja's still MIA, cleared out the archive room, and moved the rest."
After a few bites of broccoli, Henry seemed content and tried to feed his dad the wilted veggie. "Dad's not hungry, you eat," Andre said while continuing his chat with Conner, "Any luck catching the suspect?"
"It's a tangled mess, all because of an old trap Emmery set. Can't uproot it easily."
Andre asked, "So, what's your plan now?"
"To compete with you."
Andre: "?"
After hearing the details, Andre looked at Conner with disbelief, "My wife's still in school. This silly competition should be Mars's thing."
"If that's the case, I'm sure to win," Conner boasted, "At least I have a goal, while he doesn't even have that."
