Henry, nestled in his mother's embrace, quickly turned into a sweet, sleeping angel. Mia held her little bundle of joy close, reluctant to drift into slumber herself. Watching her son's adorable chubby face as he peacefully slept was a sight she cherished, something she couldn't see during the hustle and bustle of the day.
Andre was about to move their sleepy son to his own room when Mia gently interrupted, "He hasn’t seen me all day. Let him stay in my arms tonight. Our little guy isn’t even a year old yet, and I just can't help but feel for him."
Andre, seeing the tiny bundle, felt his heart soften too, and agreed to let their son stay with them for the night.
Before bed, Andre took a shower. Emerging, he found Mia engrossed in a book, and casually mentioned, "Anya already spilled the beans."
Engrossed in her reading, Mia didn’t catch on immediately. "What was that?"
Andre locked eyes with her, his gaze steady and intense.
Feeling a twinge of guilt, Mia's mind raced back to the incident with the young couple who had threatened her. She quickly closed her book, turned to face Andre, and asked nervously, "What did she say?"
"Do you really want me to repeat it?" Andre asked, his voice cool.
Mia felt a wave of caution, anxiety, and unease. She looked at Andre, swallowing hard, unsure if he truly knew the details.
If he didn’t know, was he trying to catch her off guard? Remembering her sister's advice about not falling into traps set by their significant others, she decided to play it safe and not confess.
But what if he did know? Maybe admitting it upfront would earn her some leniency, considering her past "youthful indiscretions." Plus, with little Henry acting as a buffer in bed, she hoped Andre wouldn't be too harsh.
In a leap of faith, Mia decided her husband couldn’t possibly know everything.
If he did, he wouldn’t be letting their son stay with her tonight. And really, how bad could his punishment be? She'd already been through tough challenges, like being signed up for a prep course. She could handle whatever came next.
"Honey, I truly have no idea what you’re talking about."
Andre gave a knowing smile, "Seems like you're pretty stubborn."
Feeling a mix of guilt and fear, Mia decided to end the conversation, afraid Andre might actually uncover something. She set her book on the nightstand, pulling the covers over herself and Henry, "Wake me at 5:30 tomorrow morning."
Andre replied, "That’s a bit early. How about 6:30?"
Henry, snuggled against his mom, lay peacefully, embodying pure bliss. Even in his sleep, his parents couldn't resist showering his little face with kisses.
Mia adapted quickly to her new routine. Initially, waking up early for her prep course was a struggle. But soon, she started setting her alarm earlier each day, "Wake me at 6:50 tomorrow, honey." Then, "Make it 6:40."
As days passed, she aimed to be the second earliest at her prep class, eventually asking to be woken at 5:30. Each morning, Andre would tenderly tease her, "Hey, Little Mia, aiming for second place at the prep class today?"
Cuddled under Andre's arm, Mia would mumble sleepily, "Let them have their moment today. I'll go for it tomorrow."
