Molly took another bite of her apple and asked, "So, what sparked the fight?"
Nancy replied, "I had to stand up for a friend."
Molly paused for a moment, then asked, "So what does that make the three of us then? Friends? Enemies?"
When trouble hits, it's all about who can bolt the fastest;
When it comes to punishment, it's about who can pin the blame on someone else;
Blame isn't just tossed around—it's thrown with the whole pot;
If you can take two down with you, don't spare the one who's just watching;
It’s not about surviving together, but going down together.
And if we don’t go down, at least we’re dragging you with us...
Mia and Molly exchanged looks, both at a loss for words. Their relationship, it seemed, couldn’t really be labeled as "friendship."
"Could it be, family?" Mia wondered.
Molly nodded, munching on her apple, "I think so. Why else would we trick our dad without flinching?"
They both silently agreed it must be a family thing. "Five million isn’t much for you, so why the long face?" Jade, also munching on an apple, asked.
Mia handed her a "family rule" document.
Jade snapped a picture and shared it in the family group chat.
Leo: ???
Cooper: ???
"Why though?"
"What’s the reason?"
Molly: "Maybe my Andre doesn’t see you three as people."
Henry, still as naive as ever, waited at the door every day for dad to come home, running out the moment he heard the car.
Everyone felt the truth was too harsh and didn’t have the heart to tell him his place in his father’s heart.
As exams loomed, Anya became the most anxious.
Even the usually cool Chef Nancy stopped cooking fish and got into Stephanie’s mystical studies.
She approached Stephanie, "Hey, Stephanie, can you figure out Chad’s lucky color for the exam day? His lucky stone? Star? Number?"
After visiting Stephanie, she secretly checked out temples and churches, taking taxis on the sly.
In short, she was trying to curry favor with deities from both East and West.
On the exam day.
The Cedillo family split into two groups.
Naomi, Bruce, Anya, and Molly showed up bright and early at Leo’s exam center to back him up.
"Here to join the circus, are we?" Leo jokingly said as he handed the car keys to Anya.
Bruce asked, "You got all your stuff? Let me check."
Leo handed it over, and Bruce walked him to the door, patting his shoulder, "Go on, son."
Meanwhile, on the other side…
"Mom's heading into the exam hall, no more kisses, buddy." Mia’s head was hugged by her little boy.
It was supposed to be just one lucky kiss, but he wouldn’t let go.
Anyone trying to separate him from his mom was the bad guy.
Cooper had pulled an all-nighter and flown in, working on a paper during the flight. Exhausted, but he promised to see his sister to the exam center. Seeing his dedication, Mia scolded him to catch some sleep.
Watching Henry delay his sister, Cooper moved in, teaming up with brother-in-law Andre to pry the little face-kisser away.
Henry cried in frustration, becoming even cuter as he did.
Andre escorted his wife into the exam hall, while Cooper lay down in the van with Henry to catch some sleep.
Henry, still feeling wronged, let his tearful eyes rest on grandma's shoulder.
Andre looked towards the exam area as everyone waited.
