It was dark outside and the leaves fallen on the ground were dancing in the wind. The air was a little cold. When Lucy Mo walked out of the hair salon, her short, scarlet hair was flying in the breeze, leaving a faint fragrance in her wake. There was no emotion in her eyes. She appeared absent-minded.
She sighed and trudged on with heavy steps. The cold wind hit her slender body, chilling her to the bone. She tightened her jacket, hoping to retain some warmth and quickly made her way towards home. The leaves were swirling in the wind more fiercely now. Gradually the skies turned gray and before long night fell.
"Lucy, it's time for dinner."
Lucy Mo was in her room. She had taken off her overcoat and was quietly lying in bed. A teardrop rolled down from the corner of her eyes. She slowly sat up and walked downstairs in her slippers, her body shaking uncontrollably. She held the handrail for support with one hand and her forehead with the other hand, frowning hard.
Her head was throbbing in pain.
When she pushed the kitchen door open, Molly Lan and Sean Mo had already started eating. She sat down on the chair, picked up the chopsticks and ate silently.
Molly Lan picked up the remote control on the table, turned on the TV, and began flipping channels. This annoyed Sean Mo.
"Just choose a channel! Stop pressing the button repeatedly. Don't you want to eat?"
"Fine." Molly Lan sulked and reluctantly put down the remote control.
Lucy Mo was still engrossed in her meal. She didn't utter a single word nor revealed any expression on her face.
Suddenly the sound from the TV floated to her ears....
"A ray of light dances on the surface of the water after the rain. I want to make a wish on this ethereal shore; embrace you and leave the coldness behind. I am crossing the boundary but I will always be by your side, writing your unspoken fate in your palm and taking the first step towards our dream. That, and only that, is the essence of my soul. Only your voice is ringing in my ears. That beautiful day lives in my memory no matter how ordinary it was. Every time I inhale your fragrance, I will hold your hand and fly over the moon. Yes, you--are--my--baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby. I can't stop loving you as long as I look at you. The scene is rewound to the moment when we were hit by fate. I had a dream falling from the Milky Way and set off today to your side. The glowing surface set by time twisted to confirm each other's sight. I won't change no matter how many risks we encounter. I can't help but love you without hesitation. I know I look like a fool going around you day and night. I am a stranger to you. I will show my love to you at the first step and every step. Can you get closer to me? You're my heaven. Please let me hold you tight. Every time I inhale your fragrance, I will hold your hand and fly over the moon. Yes, you--are--my--baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby. You are my heaven. The road to the future will be clear. Step by step towards happiness that is the road to you. Yes, you--are--my--baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby. I can't stop loving you as long as I look at you..."
Lucy Mo's chopsticks slipped from her hands. She was shocked. A glimmer of hope flashed in her eyes. She looked at the TV screen and saw 12 handsome boys standing on the stage. They were dazzling like stars. Their song was like the moon at night—it lit up her heart! It was such a beautiful song that no one could resist it. All the singers had angelic faces. They looked like young princes from a fairy tale. The shining images were deeply engraved in her heart. A long-forgotten smile appeared on her face.
"Dad, Mom, I'm done. I'm going to my room."
She flew up to her room like a gust of wind. It was not until Lucy Mo zoomed off that Sean Mo realized what had happened. He glanced at the 12 boys on the TV screen.
"Molly, does our baby girl fancy these guys?"
Tears were shining in her eyes, and she smiled and nodded.
"As long as it cheers her up, I will support her no matter who she likes. I think she liked their song very much. I haven't seen her smile in a long time."
