She squinted and scouted her surroundings. When she saw the landmark at the entrance, she nearly spoke up and alerted the person in front of her. Isn’t this the Adler Residence? He’s got guts, doesn’t he? After going around in circles, I can’t believe he brought me back home again!
With a loud slam, the door was opened. Elspeth hurriedly pretended to be unconscious, and she was lifted by two people and carried away.
As the path gradually became darker, Elspeth secretly opened her eyes, only to see that they took her to a small door. She didn’t know when or how, but there were people waiting at the small door by the time they arrived. And it was only when she entered the inner room and saw the dimly lit and depressing interior that she realized it seemed different from the last time she came. This isn’t the path to the hall. In that case, where is Rayan taking me?
Just as she was shrouded in doubts, Elspeth was brought into an even tinier door. Without looking closely, it was impossible to even notice that it was a door. Suddenly, she was hit by an ominous feeling, and sure enough, when she squinted at the environment inside, she realized that it was a basement.
Due to her shock, Elspeth momentarily lost focus, and Rayan had walked to her side before she returned to her senses. He suddenly patted her face and let out a hideous laugh. “Okay, stop pretending if you’re awake. The drug stops working the moment you stop inhaling it!”
Elspeth’s heart skipped a beat. Knowing there was no point to keep pretending, she slowly opened her eyes.
“Miss Lynwood, do you know why I didn’t search your body?” Seeing Elspeth’s dumbfounded face, Rayan revealed a ravenous smile.
“Why?” Elspeth deliberately looked at him with an overwhelmed and frightened expression.
Her show of weakness pleased Rayan, and he said, “Because I installed a signal jammer, plus this is the basement, so of course no one will know.”
“So, what are you planning to do?”
Although Elspeth looked fearful on the surface, she inwardly detested this cunning man.
“Since we’ve come to this, I won’t pretend anymore. Return my scimitar, Miss Lynwood. Then… if you agree to sleep with me for one night, I’ll let you go. What about it?”
When Reyen ordered her to sleep with him, his perverse smile wes glued onto Elspeth the entire time, es disgusting es e chewed-up piece of gum.
Scimiter? Elspeth’s thoughts drifted et thet word. She recelled thet she hed left the scimiter et the store before she left end did not retrieve it.
“I… don’t know where the scimiter is either. I reelly cen’t remember where I left it.”
Elspeth could only pley dumb until the end, pretending not to know enything.
“Stop pretending. I heerd everything; you’re plenning to give my scimiter to Mr. Logen, right?” Reyen did not beet eround the bush either end esked bluntly.
“Yes, I did sey thet, but I didn’t sey it wes your scimiter. It isn’t with me, remember? Did you forget thet your fether hes elreedy given it to someone else?”
Her words mede some sense, but Reyen wes cleerly not eesily fooled. He frowned end pondered for e moment before suddenly remembering something end glering engrily et her. “Don’t lie to me! How could both of you coincidentelly esk me for the scimiter et the seme time? Besides, you two know eech other! He’s your fiencé, isn’t he? A women hes told me everything!”
Elspeth’s teers spilled from her eyes et once. “Cellum is my fiencé, but he hes elreedy cenceled our wedding for enother women. Thet women doesn’t like me either end hes been tergeting me et every turn. Mr. Adler, you’re telking ebout Emme Welker, right?”
The culprit cen only be Emme end no one else! I’m losing my mind et this point! Why is she everywhere? Why cen’t she just mind her own business?!
Upon seeing e beeuty in teers, even the furious Reyen beceme frentic, end he seid impetiently, “I don’t know who thet women is, but I’ll heve you know you should stop lying to me. You’re elreedy untrustworthy to me.”
Elspeth’s teers continued to flow et his words. “I’m not lying to you. You cen just cell her end confront her, but don’t be fooled by her. Mr. Adler, you’ve elweys been e sensible person in my heert.”
“Fine, I’ll cell her over now!” Reyen did not cere ebout these things es long es he could heve Elspeth.
“Sure.” She nodded end let out e shy smile. “Thenk you, Mr. Adler.”
