Darren left the cave under the lake by himself. Looking up at the inky black sky, he felt suffocated.
There were many powerful races in the abyss. It definitely wasn't going to be easy to find a race that Darren was qualified to deal with.
Only creatures like the purple devil were as weak as ants in the abyss, and Darren was confident of dealing with them.
Carrying his sword and blade on his back, Darren trudged along a path of black earth. The only other movements came from his shadow, which amplified his loneliness.
After walking for some time, Darren halted in his tracks.
The wind was blowing past his ears. It carried an unusual aura with it.
Whoosh!
Darren frowned. Concentrating, he poked a wisp of sword intent into the ground to probe.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
In the blink of an eye, the black soil began to erode and multitudes of creatures emerged.
Before he knew what was happening, Darren was surrounded by a group of worm-like creatures. Their wriggly bodies were at least ten feet long, mucus dripping off of its surface. They emitted a foul stench, causing Darren to gag a little.
And yet, he smiled.
"They're weaker than the purple devils!"
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Darren didn't waste any time. He instantly brandished his sword and blade, and attacked them.
Hundreds of worms were killed in an instant.
Darren then released his god's power and forcefully compressed the souls of the worms that tried to escape.
It didn't take long before the souls of the worms condensed into crystals.
However, once the souls of hundreds of worms were compressed, the soul crystal they formed was but the size of a fingertip. This was far from what the Rule Soul Avatar needed.
However, Darren wasn't surprised. Generally speaking, the stronger the creatures were, the more crystals their souls would condense.
Yet he still felt a bit better. After all, it was better than nothing.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
The earth began to shake once more and then collapsed. Figures covered in mucus rushed into the void.
"Huh!"
While the quality wasn't great, at the very least, they came in large quantities!
There were probably millions of worms. If Darren managed to slaughter them all, he could collect at least a few hundred kilograms of soul crystals.
Darren launched himself into the air. His sword intent circled around his body and slaughtered any worm that crossed his path.
In a matter of minutes, he killed thousands of worms. Now, their souls needed to be compressed.
"Oh, something is wrong..."
When Darren stopped in his tracks, he noticed that none of the worms even attempted to attack him, which was a bit strange.
At first, Darren thought that, because he had killed those hundreds of worms, the rest millions of them began to besiege him. But now, it seemed that these worms were actually fleeing from something!
They were writhing and wriggling away desperately. Despite Darren killing multitudes of them, they didn't pay him any attention.
What was making them so scared?
"This can't be good." Darren had a bad feeling about this.
Boom! Boom!
Just as he was about to fly away, the earth trembled again and the wind and clouds surged. The world became as dark as jet black ink.
"What the..."
Darren was dazed and confused. He couldn't even release his god's sense, so he couldn't detect anything around him.
"Howl! Howl!"
A fierce scream pierced through the darkness and enveloped Darren, making his soul tremble.
Whoosh!
Darren's blade and sword intents circled around his body instinctively. Then, Darren felt a strong spiritual power rushing into his mind.
"The fiendish sense!"
