Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 133

Harvey watched as Max was at a disadvantage, a mix of anger and pity welling up inside him.

Winona brought over dessert. Having watched Harvey grow up, she cared for him deeply. She naturally asked, "Where's Ms. Laurent? How come you didn't bring her home, young master?"

Harvey paused. He said, "It's late. She's already asleep."

Winona nodded, exchanged a glance with Pauline, and left.

Pauline tried to pry into his affairs again, but Harvey's response was so cautious that there was no room for any leaks. He made it clear that he didn't want his mother interfering in his personal life.

Max got the hint. He chuckled lightly, "Did you have a spat with Ms. Laurent?"

Harvey sternly replied, "Max, it seems you're not busy enough with the Velona Corporation."

Max's face darkened, and Harvey lost his appetite. He got up and headed upstairs.

Orlena couldn't help but call him. "It seems like you're biased against Max."

Harvey turned around. His gaze was cold as it landed on Max. "Really? I didn't notice."

Max's expression worsened, glaring at the privileged Harvey. Clearly, he had suffered a loss on Eloise.

Well, with all the women fawning over him usually, of course, he'd be uncomfortable dealing with a tough cookie like Eloise.

Max remembered how Harvey had seemed indifferent towards her, as if he was just playing around. Harvey probably didn't realize he had genuinely fallen for her.

Max didn't pick a fight with the heartbroken man. He left the Horigan Mansion and couldn't help but glance at the calendar once he got in his car.

In two days, he could see Eloise. He imagined the surprise on her face when she saw him, her expression would be vivid, even a bit adorable.

Max couldn't help but gently stroke his steering wheel.

...

Eloise returned home from the hotel.

When she got out of the car, she got a bit soaked from the rain. She went back to her apartment, took a hot shower, drank some vitamin C, and then she felt a bit better.

It was late.

She still had work to do, so she fought off her fatigue, opened her laptop on the couch, and finished the day's financial report.

Work helped her forget her troubles. But as she lay in bed in the quiet of the night, she couldn't help but think of Harvey, remembering the good times they had in the past, and recalling their argument tonight.

Eloise grabbed a pillow and covered her face, forbidding herself from thinking about him.

The next two days, she and Harvey didn't contact each other, but she saw news about him in the newspaper.

He won an international lawsuit and was in high spirits. Countless flashbulbs were pointed at him; even the female reporters looked at him admiringly. But as he stood there being interviewed, his handsome face showed no emotion.

The headline was sensational - "The undefeated 'lucifer' of the legal world!"

Eloise held her cup, lost in thought. She gently stroked the photo in the newspaper. She had never seen such a stern Harvey. She had seen him in a bad mood, but it was more of an everyday annoyance, just a cheeky, annoying guy.

However, Harvey in a suit in court was irresistible. She remembered what Harvey once said, who took advantage of whom, it was hard to say.

After seeing his photo, Eloise felt that he was right. She hated that she couldn't resist his charm.
