Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 135

After Eloise finished speaking, she gently rubbed her chest.

It hurt. It really, really hurt. She never thought her relationship with Harvey would end this way.

Harvey was staring at her. His gaze was heavy, at least Eloise had never seen him like this. She even felt that he might slap her in the next second.

But he didn’t.

Instead of getting violent, Harvey started laughing, "I remember you gave Orlena a gift symbolizing safety and protection, and now you're after her life?"

Eloise laughed. She looked at Harvey, "Attorney Horigan, if you could be a little more tolerant, we can coexist peacefully."

Harvey's Adam's apple bobbed. He also started laughing, "Eloise, you're pretty tough. No wonder Max and Landon both like you."

He gently pinched her sharp chin. Leaning in, his tone carrying a hint of danger, "I didn't realize you were full of thorns. I really want to pull them all out."

Eloise's eyes were moist, her nose reddened. She knew Harvey had compromised.

Her body suddenly relaxed, but the hidden pain was even more unbearable. She only knew her stomach hurt, not knowing exactly where.

Eloise was pale. Struggling, she mumbled, "See you around, Attorney Horigan."

It was over between her and Harvey.

Harvey got up neatly, and indeed, it seemed that way.

On the table was Angus's evidence, which he left for her. As Harvey reached the door, he hesitated for a moment before turning back. He'd always been ruthless in his actions, rarely this indecisive. But he wanted to ask her again, was she really unwilling to stay by his side and follow his arrangements.

As soon as he turned around, he saw Eloise collapsed next to the table, her slender body curled up, her small face drained of color.

"Eloise." Harvey rushed over, bending down to pick her up, "What's wrong? I'll take you to the hospital."

Eloise didn't refuse.

It hurt so much...so much…

Her lower abdomen was so uncomfortable, like it was burning. She couldn't even stand, and even lying down was unbearable.

She had a hunch that it had something to do with their argument just now. Her body wasn't ready; Harvey was too forceful.

"Harvey...it hurts."

She leaned into his arms, forgetting their argument, because only his warmth could comfort her; only then did she feel alive, besides the pain.

Being a man, Harvey cared for Eloise. Even though they had a rough time, he couldn't just abandon her. He carried her into the car and handed her a cup of water. "Drink some water."

Eloise held his cup, tried to open it several times but failed. Harvey simply took it, opened it for her, and let her hold it to drink.

Not wasting a moment, he drove to the nearest hospital, even without time to find someone familiar.

After drinking some water, Eloise felt a bit better. But she was still uncomfortable and in pain, her lower abdomen felt bloated and heavy. She leaned back in the chair, her face pale.

"Harvey... Thank you."

"No talking. I'll let you know when we get to the hospital." His voice was unusually gentle, which was rare for Harvey, considering they'd just had a serious argument, even to the point of breaking up.

Eloise’s heart softened. She felt that both of them had been acting out of frustration and without thinking straight earlier.

She believed he wouldn't really go after her father, and likewise, she wouldn't use Max against Orlena. Those were just words said in anger.

Eloise wanted to talk to him, but she was in too much pain now. She vaguely thought that she'd wait until she felt a bit better.
