Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 143

Harvey didn't give two hoots about behaving in front of the elders.

Eloise was really pissed off! She slowly got up and nodded to Pauline, "Pauline, I got things to do, gotta run."

Pauline looked like she was hit by a bus. What's the deal with her son's love life?

Wasn't he supposed to be wooing the girl? Why were they fighting the minute they met? He's never been like this!

Pauline muttered, "Harvey, why don't you walk Eloise out?"

Eloise cracked a smile, "I drove myself here."

Harvey didn't insist. He put down his cup, a touch of aloofness in his demeanour, "There's a short meeting at the office tomorrow about the Angus Laurent case. I'll give you a heads up!"

"Is the person involved in the case attending, or?"

Eloise didn't want her father to attend for fear of upsetting him. So even though she knew Harvey had other intentions, she had to accept it.

That's exactly what Harvey wanted.

He replied nonchalantly, "I'll be waiting at the office for you."

Eloise dashed off.

As soon as Eloise left, Pauline started nagging, "Harvey, this ain't right! Who chases a girl like this, asking her out at the office?"

Harvey simply smiled. He wouldn't tell his mother about the difficulties he encountered while pursuing Eloise.

He got up gracefully, "I'll walk you home."

His good looks and aristocratic demeanour must have caught the eyes of many young girls.

Pauline felt both proud and sad.

"Harvey, with all the goods you got, how come you're still single!"

Orlena pouted, "He brought it upon himself, didn't he!"

Eloise arrived at Harvey's office at two o'clock the following afternoon.

Denise personally greeted her.

"Attorney Horigan is in an international video conference, Eloise. Hang tight for a bit."

She led Eloise into Harvey's private meeting room, personally brewed a cup of coffee, and left after serving it.

Eloise sipped her coffee and admired the decor.

Harvey had a thing for postmodern art, and this meeting room was tastefully decorated. Suddenly, Eloise's gaze landed on a vintage bronze piece because it was upside down.

She found it odd, picked it up and examined it.

But she regretted it as soon as she turned it over. It was actually a photo frame, with a picture Eloise recognized: 24-year-old Harvey and 22-year-old Joan.

Eloise silently looked at it for a few seconds, then put the frame back in its original place.

There was a sound at the door.

"It was placed there during the renovation, and I'd forgotten to throw it out."

Eloise turned around.

Harvey was standing at the entrance of the meeting room, dressed in a classic black and white suit, mature and handsome.

He came over, picked up the frame, and looked at Eloise, his voice gentle.

"Are you upset?"

Eloise dodged the topic, "Attorney Horigan, I’m here for my dad."

"I know, no need to emphasize." Harvey tossed the frame into the trash can, sat on the couch, and opened a file, "Ms. Laurent, let's get started!"

Eloise was taken aback.

He clearly said they were having a meeting last night. Why were there only the two of them.

Harvey's gaze was deep. "Do you doubt my professional capabilities?"

Dare Eloise?

She braced herself and listened to him explain those professional terms and analyze the case.

She tried her best, but in the end, she couldn't help but feel sleepy.
