Early in the morning, Eloise took Milo out for a walk.
Dressed in a sporty outfit, her long legs were on full display in the early summer weather, making for quite an appealing sight. At least that was what Harvey thought when he caught sight of her, swallowing hard. He got out of his car and asked, “Walking the dog?”
Eloise ignored him and headed towards the lake with Milo.
Milo turned back to bark at him a few times.
Harvey lit a cigarette and trailed behind her without a word.
Eloise paid him no mind. She walked the dog for an hour, had breakfast, and grabbed a bag of bread and milk on her way back.
When she was going upstairr, Harvey grabbed her wrist and asked, “Are you with him now?”
Eloise was taken aback. Then she understood, he must have seen it last night and followed her here!
With a cold expression, Eloise replied, “Attorney Horigan, we’ve broken up! Who I'm with is none of your business, and I certainly don't need to report it to you!”
She forcefully shook off his hand and briskly walked into her apartment. After closing the door, she leaned against it. She had been through this countless times. Every time she saw Harvey, her heart would ache, but she couldn't remain indifferent anymore. She didn’t want to continue like this!
What was he trying to achieve by persistently bothering her?
Eloise had considered moving, but she felt like she hadn't done anything wrong. Why should she avoid him?
……
That night, Eloise rejected Landon, but he didn't give up. He was smart and careful in his approach.
He only saw her four or five times a month, either coming over for dinner or bringing gifts for Michelle. Over time, everyone in town knew Landon was head over heels for her and was pursuing her!
That night, Landon ran into Eloise again. Brazenly, he had dinner at Eloise's apartment but he left at 9 o'clock, leaving her no reason to reject him.
Eloise walked him downstairs. As Landon got into his car, she seemed to want to say something but ultimately remained silent.
Landon burst into laughter. His laugh was youthful and charming, and any girl would fall for it. Even Eloise was taken aback for a moment.
Landon probably realized that too. He leaned close to Eloise's ear and whispered, “You can't escape.” With that, he started his car with a triumphant smile and drove off.
Eloise stood in the night for a long time.
The night breeze was comforting. She sat on a bench under the sycamore tree, gently closing her eyes, and feeling the soft wind brushing against her cheek.
A tall figure appeared. Harvey's gaze was complicated. He had seen it all. He saw Landon smiling at her, he saw Eloise softening towards him, he couldn't help but grab Eloise's chin, kissing her lips, his tongue sliding in.
