Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 186

When Eloise was leaving, she bumped into Harvey at the elevator. He was holding some files and seemed like he wanted to discuss something. Harvey stepped out of the elevator as Eloise stepped in.

Just as the elevator doors were about to close, he stuck his hand out to stop them. He hadn’t seen her for a long time and missed her a lot. He wanted to be close to her, but in the end, he just played it cool and asked, “How’ve you been?”

Eloise leaned against the elevator wall. She looked at him wearily, and after a moment, she replied, “I’m okay.”

Harvey’s eyes were dark and intense. He spoke in a low voice, “I’ll be at the celebration tonight too. Will you… dance with Landon?”

Eloise was obviously taken aback. She hadn’t made any plans with Landon. They weren't at that stage yet. But if Landon was there, it would be normal for them to share a dance. So, Eloise didn’t deny it.

Harvey’s handsome face darkened, but he didn’t seem unhappy. Instead, he said tenderly, “Have fun,” and then he walked away.

A chill ran down Eloise’s spine. She didn’t know why, but Harvey, like this, seemed more terrifying than when he was pestering her. His eyes told her he hadn’t given up, but he was playing it cool.

Eloise almost didn’t want to attend the banquet. But as the award recipient and with her performance today, the city's elites would definitely not let her off. After a few calls pushing her, she had to obediently go.

The banquet was held on the 32nd floor of the Silver Bay Hotel. The place was buzzing, the atmosphere lively. It was a good opportunity to network, and Eloise wasn’t going to let her personal feelings get in the way. She mingled with champagne in hand.

Veronica also came over, with Riley in tow, introducing Eloise to some valuable connections. Eloise conducted herself impeccably. She ignored the gaze from the second floor.

Harvey stood on the second floor of the banquet hall, impeccably dressed. He was leaning against the railing, silently observing Eloise. His gaze was so intense that even Veronica couldn’t ignore it. She whispered in Eloise’s ear, “He looks like he hasn’t been with a woman since you two broke up. That gaze is just…”

Eloise didn’t need to look to know. When they were together, Harvey was always very demanding, often staring at her with a hungry look. He was handsome and charming, and few women could resist him.

Many socialites were stealing glances at him. Sleeping with Attorney Horigan was a dream for many women in the city, but Eloise wasn’t interested. She ignored his gaze and pretended he didn’t exist.

She gracefully accepted other men’s invitations to dance, trying to make it clear that she had nothing to do with the Horigan family.

When the banquet was halfway through, Landon arrived. He had been very busy lately, and it seemed like he hadn’t seen her for a week.

After Landon arrived, he glanced up at the second floor. Harvey, ever the gentleman, raised his champagne glass to him. His sexy appearance made all the women swoon. Veronica whispered in Eloise’s ear, “This man, other than being a bit arrogant, is really good-looking. Actually, the entire clique is pretty good-looking, but compared to Harvey, the others are just not quite there.”

Eloise coughed. “Should I tell this to Riley?”

Veronica hurriedly begged for mercy.

At this moment, Landon came over and asked Eloise to dance, “Ms. Laurent, may I have this dance?”

Veronica covered her face. Oh my god! When Landon really put his mind to it, he was quite the gentleman!

Eloise smiled slightly, putting her hand in Landon’s, accepting his invitation. She knew Harvey was watching, and she also knew he was probably crushing his glass right now, but she didn’t want to change her life because of him.
