In the darkness, Harvey was perched up, watching her from above. Eloise wanted to move, but he quickly grasped her hand, interlocking their fingers.
The atmosphere was intimate, perfect for a couple's interaction.
Harvey was thinking the same. He burrowed into her neck, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly as he murmured, "Eloise, I have something to say to you."
Eloise hummed in response. Her voice held a hint of fearfulness.
Harvey rolled over, spooning her, allowing her to rest against his chest. They'd been through so much; he knew he could easily have her heart and body if he just kept things from her.
But he was scared, scared to lose.
With a hoarse voice, he confessed to her, "I ran into Monika earlier."
Monika...
Eloise frowned.
Harvey gently stroked her brow. His deep voice was laced with soothing tones. "She's pregnant. I arranged for her to go to Rossland. I know it will upset you, but I want to give her a chance. Is that okay with you, Eloise?"
He updated her on Livio's situation. Eloise curled up against him and remained silent for a long time. Harvey thought she was reluctant and was about to say something when Eloise softly replied, “Okay.”
He hadn’t expected her to be so agreeable.
Eloise laid flat, speaking softly, “If she wants to keep the baby, it shows she loves the child the most…why can't I accept that?"
Harvey looked at her calm demeanor and couldn't help but feel moved, to make love with her. Ever since he pretended to regain his memory, he dared not touch her, fearing she would feel disgusted.
Now that everything was out in the open, he couldn't resist his old habits. He gently pressed against her, sharing a kiss.
She was very obedient, wrapping her arms around his neck, and engaged in a passionate embrace. Harvey felt like he was on fire, and felt if he didn't act now, he would explode.
As things were heating up, Eloise suddenly murmured, "Harvey, you haven't regained your memory, have you?"
Everything came to a screeching halt. Harvey stared at her, incredulous.
How did Eloise know? He'd been pretending quite well these past few days.
Eloise gathered her nightgown, turned up a bedside lamp, and stretched her leg to kick him playfully. "If you had regained your memory, you probably would've gotten rid of Monika, too."
Who would be kind enough to settle Monika down?
Eloise then opened the bedside drawer, pulling out a notebook. Inside were pages full of red checkmarks and notes, resembling the replica of the Horigan Mansion.
"Harvey, you're so shameless."
Harvey felt a bit embarrassed. He just lay in the bed motionless. Things had progressed so far, only to be exposed by his wife. Moreover, he couldn't decipher Eloise's true intentions.
