Orlena's face flushed instantly. It had been days, how could she still feel embarrassed?
Brett just chuckled, his face impassive.
He might have been a bit brusque that night, and she kept complaining about the discomfort... Young girls could be overly sensitive sometimes.
At that moment, the waiter entered the room, bringing in dishes one after the other. Despite there only being two of them, the table was quickly filled with an array of food. She couldn't help but protest, "This is too much. It's going to go to waste."
Brett smirked, "Already aiming to save me some bucks?”
As he served her a plate, he casually commented, "The real way to show consideration is to save some energy for me."
Her face turned even redder. He was shameless!
Seeing her reaction, Brett decided to let it slide. He specially served her a bowl of chicken soup, gently explaining, "It's made with free-range chicken. It's good for women."
She quietly sipped the soup, feeling somewhat awkward. She wasn't sure what he had planned for her.
By the end of the meal, Brett had made sure his girl was well-fed. He seemed quite pleased. He then reached into his briefcase and pulled out an item.
It was a charm, commonly used for protection. Brett gently put it on her, tucking it within her collar. His gaze was intense as he said, "When I got one for Eloise, I got one for you as well. You can't take it off this month, got it?"
Orlena pulled it out to examine it, her fingers gently caressing it.
Brett patted her head, murmuring, "I hope both you and Eloise will be safe."
Orlena whispered, "I want to give it to Linda."
The one who needed safety the most was Linda.
Hearing this, Brett seemed a little saddened. He wasn't sure what the future would be for Linda. But for now, Harvey seemed to be desperate to save Linda, and would go to any lengths, even if that meant turning her into an alien.
Brett then pulled out a supplementary credit card from his wallet and placed it in her hand.
Orlena was taken aback. What was he suggesting?
She stuttered, "Are we... Are we..."
Brett didn't answer directly, he only said soothingly, "It's my supplementary card. You can buy whatever you want!"
Her expression was on the verge of tears.
He had to leave, but found it hard to leave her. So he reassured her, "I'll come to see you soon. Orlena, please take good care of Eloise..."
She nodded obediently. But as he got up to leave, she couldn't help herself and held onto his shirt, her voice trembling, "Brett!"
He looked at her gently.
Holding the Black Card, Orlena was visibly anxious. She gathered her courage before asking, "What does this mean?"
Brett smiled. He responded with a question, "What do you think it means?"
Her lips quivered, "I don't know! Brett, please clarify."
Brett gently hugged her, letting her rest her head against his waist. Compared to him, she was so young, and he couldn't help but be affectionate towards her. After a while, he said, "Isn't it natural for a boyfriend to spend on his girlfriend?"
Orlena's lips trembled even more. She clung to his waist, her voice choked with tears, "Can a girlfriend ask you to stay faithful to her, to only have her?"
She didn't dare to think about the future, but since he said they were together, it should at least be genuine.
Brett looked down at his girl, who was looking up at him. He leaned down to kiss her.
He had a flight to catch and didn't have much time for affection, so he gave her a brief kiss before saying softly, "After I met you, there's no one else."
She held onto his waist, her face slowly turning red. She remembered feeling jealous that one time.
Brett didn't mock her. How could he, when his girl was so fond of him. He touched her face, murmuring, "You're not allowed to go out with anyone else. If I see anyone confessing their feelings to you, I'll break your legs."
She obediently nodded, watching him with a heavy heart.
