Eloise stepped out of the villa.
The rain was getting heavier and the surroundings were foggy. The ground under the street lights was reflecting the shimmer of water.
Eloise was walking in the cold rainy night in her high heels. She walked for a long time, until her heels rubbed her feet raw and blood trickled down her feet. It was painful.
Eloise tilted her head slightly, letting the icy rain hit her face. Falling in love with Max, it was her mistake!
Now, all she felt for him was hatred. She didn't want to spend a lifetime paying for it; she would rather go down with him.
Tears filled the corners of Eloise's eyes, but in the cold night, her tears seemed insignificant. She slowly squatted down, letting the rain wash over her.
A black umbrella opened above her head, a tall figure blocking her.
Eloise looked up. It was Harvey!
Dressed in a suit as if he had just come from some formal occasion, he looked mature and handsome. Now, he was looking at her, his eyes filled with warmth that made Eloise's heart race.
Always him, always Harvey! Why was he always there when she was at her lowest, as if she had been saved.
"Ms. Laurent, I've been looking for you all night." Harvey's voice was deep and husky, more captivating than a cello.
Eloise looked up at his outstretched palm. She was still, too stunned to react.
"You poor girl." Harvey sighed softly. He simply bent over and picked her up. Her clothes were soaked, wetting his suit, but he didn't care.
Harvey's body was warm, which was something Eloise realized belatedly.
