Eloise got dressed and was ready to head out.
Before leaving, she glanced towards the direction of the study.
Harvey was still working in his study, she whispered, "I'll be back by half ten."
It was a plain sentence, but it made Harvey heave a sigh involuntarily.
Having an extra person in the house really made a difference.
Even though it could be a bit restrictive and inconvenient, so far, he found it bearable. Eloise wasn't overly clingy but was gentle enough. She cooked delicious meals and did the house chores, almost like...
Harvey didn't continue to think further. He simply responded with a nod.
Eloise stepped out, planning to hail a cab at the entrance of the apartment complex. Given its central location, getting a ride should be no problem.
But to her surprise, the moment she stepped out, she saw a black sports car parked in front of her.
In the cool night breeze, Max got out of the car.
Upon seeing him, Eloise's heart raced. She was scared of being alone with him, let alone his current grim expression.
She tried to control her emotions.
Max strolled up to her without any rough movements, only scoffing, "I underestimated you. You're actually with Harvey! But Eloise, do you really think you and Harvey could work out? Do you know his past? If you do, you shouldn't be so ambitious."
Eloise just gave a faint smile.
She retorted, "What's it to you?"
She wasn't dumb. She had guessed that Harvey had someone else in his heart.
Confronted with her cool demeanor, Max felt a choking sensation.
He couldn't help but ask, "You really don't care? Are you willing to play his game? Eloise... what can he offer you apart from wanting to sleep with you?"
"And you?" Eloise slightly lowered her head, sneered, "Max, what can you offer me?"
She didn't want to tangle with him any longer and pushed him away to walk towards the roadside.
