It had been long since Scarlett had been in a hospital. The smell of disinfectant made her uncomfortable.
The corridor outside the VIP ward was very quiet. There was only the sound of their footsteps.
Viviana walked ahead, carrying the chicken soup cooked by maids. Scarlett was supporting Rowan.
Rowan participated in several big wars when he was young. He was shot in the left shin and right thigh. Now he was aged. He felt unwell when it rained.
He was getting older and weaker. Though proud, he had to admit that he was no longer young.
He would rather walk slower than let others help him, but the person that was helping him was Scarlett, Pearl's daughter. As he gazed at Scarlett's face, which was similar to Pearl's, Rowan's heart melted. He would do as Scarlett wished as long as she was happy.
Rowan couldn't walk fast. Scarlett slowed down her pace. When they entered the ward, Viviana had rolled up the bed.
After being tortured by cancer for more than five years, Scarlett's grandma was very thin, but Scarlett could see that she was a striking beauty when she was young from her face.
No wonder Larry said she looked like her grandma. It was true. Scarlett had her grandma's pretty eyes.
Her grandma was old. The skin on her face was loose, and her eyelids drooped. Her eyes were not as charming as before.
Scarlett stood by, feeling depressed.
This was her grandmother.
Rowan walked over with his cane. He stood at his wife's bedside, looking down at her. "You've waited for so many years. Now she's here. Pearl is a poor girl. She and her husband died in a car accident nine years ago, but she had a daughter. This is your granddaughter. She looks very much like you."
Rowan looked at Scarlett. "Scarlett, come over and let your grandmother see you. She has been looking forward to today for so long."
Scarlett came up. Her grandma was lying in bed. Her eyes were no longer clear. Larry said she was near death. She could do nothing but swallow a little soup. She couldn't speak or move, but she could see people.
Scarlett had just walked over when the old lady's fingers twitched. Viviana noticed it. "Scarlett, don't be afraid. Your grandmother wants to touch you."
Scarlett also saw it. She lowered her eyes and carefully touched her grandma's hand.
