Flirting With My Ex-husband novel Chapter 356

Raymond lowered his eyes. Scarlett was quite right, but he had lost his marbles.

"If you hadn't mentioned Yoselin last night, I would've left here some time ago."

With that he took a step closer to her.

Scarlett stiffened momentarily, looking somewhat disconcerted.

She thought, 'I knew it. Last night I personally gave him the opportunity to approach me again.'

Her charming eyes instantly became frosty. She watched frigidly as he walked over, lifted his hand and placed it on her cheek. Scarlett didn't move. She just gazed at him.

"Don't get me wrong. I'm bringing this up only because I want you to know I deeply regretted not having cherished you when we were together. I'm also aware I'm not the only man who can give you a happy life. But Scarlett, it takes an awful lot to make a relationship work. My failure to show you the love you deserved was the biggest mistake of my life, but in terms of a romantic relationship, it wasn't really that wrong of me to have no feelings for you."

Scarlett knew that he had a good point. It was neither

right nor wrong to have feelings for someone or have n o feelings for them.

He had had no feelings for her then, and she couldn't blame him for that.

Raymond's only mistake had been his failure to really treat her as his wife during the three years.

Technically speaking, she herself was no less responsible for it than he was because she had insisted on marrying him, not the other way around.

That was the very reason why she had been trying her best to be tolerant of him since their divorce.

In fact, she was not that strong or that forgiving.

On the contrary, she was quite unforgiving.

She had been holding such grudges against him all along due to the apathy he had treated her with during their three-year marriage that even to this day, she was still unable to get over him completely.

Nothing overshadows what you cannot have.

Raymond felt that way, and so did she.

She had seen him as her hero and her first love when she was fifteen.

She had believed that her feelings for him would ebb away over time, but clearly, compared with the decade, the last year had served only to give her a more distinct realization that romantic relationship was a two-way process, but what she had for him was unrequited love.

"Losing you has only made it clearer to me I should've cherished you. I don't expect you to accept me right away. All I'm asking from you is a second chance."

He paused momentarily and then added, "A second chance for both of us."

Taken aback by his words, Scarlett abruptly shoved him away. "Stop dreaming, Raymond! There's no way I'm stepping into the same trap for a second time."
