Flirting With My Ex-husband novel Chapter 40

Scarlett bowed her head and blew out the candles on the cake. As she went in, she said, "Today is my birthday. I want to change my style."

She threw her purse onto the sofa, picked up the wine decanter and goblet, and poured herself a glass of red wine slowly.

Seeing her movements, Alexis said helplessly, "I'm a little glad I'm a woman, but a little sorry about that."

"Hmm?"

Justin raised his eyebrows. Alexis shrunk and got out of his arms to sit beside Scarlett, "Happy birthday, Lettie! May you earn more this year than you did last year!"

Scarlett took the gift in her hand and said, "Thank you. I like your wish very much."

She put down the goblet and started to open the birthday gift.

She unwrapped the wrapping paper, revealing the gradient white gift box. She picked up the lid of the box. There was a simple retro yet stylish women's watch. It was a limited edition model of the Season this year, named "Broken New", with a small cloud engraved under the dial.

After freezing for a moment, Scarlett put it on her wrist. The strap was just right and the dial matched her wrist perfectly.

She liked it very much.

"Thanks."

She said with a smile. Then she cupped her chin with one hand and looked at Alexis, "I remember that this watch is worth more than a million dollars. Where did you get the money?"

Alexis took a fancy to a riverside villa last year, which was worth one point eight hundred million dollars. She wanted to save money to buy it as their wedding house secretly without Justin's knowledge. Therefore, although she looked shiny and bright, in fact, she saved her money into her bank card every month and lived a very frugal life.

A million dollars was nothing to her. But Justin suddenly proposed to her in June this year. Alexis wanted to buy the villa before the wedding.

The money to buy the watch could support Alexis' life for a few months.

"Well, we've been good friends for over twenty years. A million dollars is nothing to me."
