When Scarlett arrived at the restaurant, Alexander had arrived already.
A waiter showed Scarlett the way to the table. She thanked the waiter. As soon as she put down her bag, Alexander helped her pull a chair out.
'He is a gentleman...'
Scarlett glanced at Alexander and said," Thank you, Mr. Smith."
Alexander felt embarrassed and touched his nose. He said, "Don't mention it. We have known each other for a long time."
He handed a menu to her.
Scarlett smiled and took the menu from his hand. She glanced at the dishes and prices. She said, "Mr. Smith, you're so generous."
The dishes were delicate and expensive. Although there were only Scarlett and Alexander, Alexander would pay more than three thousand dollars for the meal at least.
Alexander said, "Never mind. If you like the dishes and come here again, you can charge it to my account."
Scarlett took a sip of coffee and said," Thank you."
Alexander said, "You’re welcome."
So little money was nothing for him.
Scarlett ordered several dishes and a soup.
She said, "It will be enough for us."
Alexander nodded, "OK. If it is not enough, we can order some more."
Scarlett smiled and took a sip of coffee. She said, "Mr. Smith, why do you invite me to have a meal with you today?"
Alexander smiled, "You're smart. You must know why I invite you to have a meal today.
"I witness what has happened between Ray and you these years. I was anxious in the morning and thus offended you. Please forgive me. You know that I'm simple-minded sometimes."
