Tonight Scarlett would stay in Raymond's apartment. She was not used to sleeping in an unfamiliar bed. Lying in his bed, she could not fall asleep.
There was no more Raymond's scent in the room, only a faint fragrance.
The fragnance was fresh and a little sweet, but it wasn’t Raymond's smell after all.
Scarlett closed her eyes. Out of nowhere, the memory Alexander once told her about the incident she suddenly fainted at the Shaw residence came to her mind.
The day before that day. Tiffany played a prank on Scarlett and got her drenched from head to toe. Scarlett had a fever that night. The next day she woke up late and when she came downstairs, Jean nagged her for over half an hour with complaints.
It was about two months after she and Raymond had moved back into the Shaw residence.
Usually, Scarlett brought lunch for Raymond to his office. She was not good at cooking. The food was prepared by the family cook. Jean wanted to keep Scarlett occupied, so she told Scarlett to bring Raymond lunch to please him. Actually, Jean couldn't stand to see Scarlett idle. So at 11:30 every day, Scarlett had to go to Tenton to bring Raymond his lunch.
In the beginning days of their marriage, Scarlett did try to please Raymond by bringing him lunch, but later he gave her a cold face every time, and once Raymond even smashed the food right in her face, and after then Scarlett just took it as a task to bring him the lunch.
That day, Scarlett went to deliver lunch for Raymond to do her duty as usual. She left straight away after she left the lunchbox in his office.
Raymond didn't like Scarlett coming to his office, which Scarlett knew very well. In the beginning, she had naughty intentions and purposely lingered in his office and talked to him about the things that she did at home. Raymond never responded to her talks. Scarlett felt upset and then she would not linger in his office anymore.
That night before that day, she had a fever all night long. When she left for Tenton at noon, she was not feeling well. What's more, the mean woman at the company's front desk made a lot of sarcasm at her, so she didn’t want to say even a word.
She put the lunch box in Raymond’s office and then she left. Not long after she returned to the Shaw residence, as she was about to go to lunch, she fell faint.
Seconds after she fainted, Scarlett still got her consciousness. Lying on the cold floor, she vividly remembered Jean's conversation with Tiffany.
"Mom, Scarlett fainted."
"Who cares? What’s the big deal? If she dies, Raymond can marry another woman!"
