Chris hung up. He raised his hand, stroked Scarlett's head and said, "She is in a bad condition. I need to go to the hospital."
Scarlett nodded, "OK. I will go there with you."
She said as she went upstairs to change clothes.
After she changed clothes and went downstairs, Chris had put on shoes and was waiting for her at the door.
Scarlett came up to him, held his hand and said, "Let's go."
Chris held her hand tightly. He kept silent and walked into the elevator with her.
Chris' apartment was not far away from the hospital where Chloe stayed. It took him ten minutes to get there by car.
At 9 p.m., it was quiet in the hospital. It was even quiet in the corridors.
Scarlett and Chris walked into the hospital. The silent corridor echoed with their footsteps. They felt disturbed somehow.
They arrived at Chloe's ward soon. When the doctor saw Chris, he said sorry to Chris and left with the nurses.
Chloe's heart was still beating, but she was so weak that she even didn't have the strength to speak. She looked at Chris with her washed-out eyes.
Chloe's tears flowed down from the corners of her eyes. Scarlett saw the scene and felt sad. She looked at Chris subconsciously.
Chris stood beside Scarlett and fixed his eyes on Chloe.
Scarlett and Chris kept silent. There were only the noises of the medical instruments in the ward.
Chloe's secretary, Emerson, stood beside Chloe. Although Emerson's eyes turned red, she tried her best to hold her tears back.
Half an hour later, Emerson wiped her tears as she walked out of the ward.
Scarlett, Chris and Chloe were left on the ward.
Chloe had been staring at Chris for four hours. She passed away at 1:48 a m.
