Tempted Trapped and Too Late to Run novel Chapter 166

The private room was already buzzing with a few familiar faces, and wouldn't you know it, Nicholas and Richard were among them. Nicholas was even busier than Dylan these days, what with the Greenard family being in a bit of a mess, so he hardly ever showed up for these little gatherings. Only a handful of folks from their close-knit circle could coax him out.

Simon ignored the rest of the crowd, his eyes locked onto Dylan. Dylan glanced up, but it was tough to tell if he was really meeting Simon’s gaze. Simon’s temper flared as he marched over.

“Dylan, I’ve got something to ask you.”

Dylan arched an eyebrow, keeping that poker face of his.

Simon shot a look at Richard and Nicholas. “Mind stepping out for a sec?”

Richard and Nicholas exchanged glances, and just as Richard was about to throw in a snarky remark, Dylan’s look stopped him cold. Richard tugged Nicholas away. “Let’s bounce.”

Nicholas didn’t put up a fight; he’d been in a funk lately too. Once they were out, the room stayed dimly lit.

Simon had grown up under Dylan’s shadow. Now, it was just the two of them in the room, and he felt his confidence slipping away. Nobody in the whole Ferguson clan dared to stand up to Dylan. Sometimes Simon wondered if the guy was superhuman because he was so damn good at everything.

Simon’s fingers clenched at his side, the bite of pain clearing his head and giving him a dose of courage.

“Dylan, got nothing you wanna say to me?”
