Tempted Trapped and Too Late to Run novel Chapter 314

Clara even offered Sarah ten thousand dollars just to show up in front of a man—nothing more, nothing less. Sarah was a bit puzzled, but Clara seemed genuine enough, so she went along with it.

Once Clara had everything set, she asked Aiden about Dylan's schedule, confirming he'd be free that evening. She arranged to meet Dylan at a hotel. But Aiden couldn’t shake off the uneasy feeling in his gut.

"Ms. Clara, are you sure this gift will make the CEO happy?" he asked, concerned.

Clara had been MIA for two days and had already quit Bradford Enterprises, so she was out of the loop on how things had shifted at the top. There's a saying though—the higher the expectations, the bigger the letdown. Aiden had already warned her, hoping she was serious about her plan.

Clara flashed a confident smile at the young woman with her. "Aiden, isn’t there a spot open at the top now that I’m gone?"

If Dylan liked her idea, he could easily bring this girl into the upper ranks. All she'd have to do was be there for him. And if he really liked her, he might even consider marrying her. It wouldn’t solve all his problems, but it’d be better than staring at a cold gravestone.

Clara was at a dead end and figured she might as well give it a shot.

Aiden took a deep breath. "So, are you coming back?" he asked.

This wasn’t the first time meetings ran long, but with the reports done and Dylan saying nothing, people started worrying about their jobs.

When Aiden walked into the room, he calmly approached Dylan and murmured, "Sir, the meeting is over."

Dylan’s eyelashes fluttered as he finally looked up at the clock.
