Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Six years of secret love with my brother.
The day before Valentine’s, I snuck to his office hoping to surprise him.
Instead, I got the shock of my life overhearing a conversation through his half–open door.
“Your stepsister, Lorian–aren’t you over that game yet? When are you finally dumping her? Wait… don’t tell me you’ve fallen for her?”
Lorian’s reply drifted through the crack, that smooth, confident tone I used to melt for now turning my
blood to ice.
“Fallen? For her?” He snorted. “Please. She’s just a free toy that fell into my lap. Who turns down something that costs nothing?”
“Jocelyn’s the only one who’ll ever be my wife.”
The office went quiet before he continued, each word like twisting a knife in
my
chest.
“Her mom destroyed my parents‘ marriage. These six years with her daughter? Just my little revenge project. She’s getting exactly what she deserves.”
So that was it. Everything I thought was love was just his sick payback plan.
All those late–night whispers, the promises, the way he’d pull me close when nobody was watching–just another Oscar–worthy performance.
Well, if that’s how he wanted to play it, I was out.
“Don’t worry about me. Focus on planning my wedding with Jocelyn,” Lorian’s voice continued, growing colder with each word.
“As for Sylvia… I have plenty of ways to make her pay.”
I froze mid–step, my breath caught in my throat.
“Imagine it—falling in love with your stepbrother, sneaking into his bed night after night, then having that shameful affair exposed at my wedding ceremony. Can she still have to live in the Lancelot family
after that?”
“I can hardly wait.”

Chapter 1
His friend Ewan’s voice softened with concern.
“Your parents were divorced for three years before her mother remarried your father. You can’t blame Sylvia for that. She was just starting college then–she knew nothing about the family situation. Don’t you think this is too cruel?”
“A girl’s reputation is everything. You’re playing with fire here–this could destroy her life! She loves you so much. If she finds out you’ve been with her just for revenge, she might-”
Lorian cut him off impatiently as he casually replied my message with an emoji.
“I want to destroy her! That’s the whole point!” he snapped.
“Stop giving me that ‘she’s innocent‘ crap. Was my mom innocent when she was thrown away like garbage? Hell no!”
“Blame her rotten luck for being that woman’s kid. Not my fault she was born trash. She brought this on
herself!”
“If she had any real self–respect, she wouldn’t have jumped into bed with me six years ago. The result now was her own choice. She deserves no sympathy.”
Ewan sighed deeply before asking one final question.
“Well… but after six years, I don’t believe you never felt anything. Lorian, I must warn you–What’s done is done.there’s no turning back.”
Lorian’s voice turned to ice. “Fall in love with my enemy’s daughter? What do you take me for?”
“Looking at her face, so much similar to her mother’s, I feel disgusted even when I kiss her.”
“Just like her whore of a mother, she’s shameless. Ruining her reputation is already merciful on my part.”
Ewan, seeing no way to change his mind, reluctantly left.
Footsteps approached the door.
I tried to hide, but the blue roses I’d brought scattered across the floor.
Ewan and I locked eyes briefly as he passed. His face filled with pity.
Lorian, hearing the commotion, rushed out. He found me kneeling, frantically gathering the fallen flowers, a pathetic sight.
His expression flashed with momentary panic before he quickly composed himself, helping me to my feet.

Chapter 1
“Sylvia? What are you doing here? When did you arrive?”
I smiled even as tears fell unbidden down my cheeks.
“Just now. I wanted to surprise you, but I’m too clumsy to hold onto the flowers.”
He smiled indulgently, carelessly tossing the roses aside as he led me into his office.
He pinned me against the door, his body pressing into mine. I could feel his desire radiating through my clothes, burning hot against me.
But all I felt inside was ice cold.
“I told you, no gifts needed. Your existence is the best gift to me.”
“Tired alright? Just take a break and I’ll take you home after I finish work.”
He placed a gentle kiss on my forehead, the gesture as tender and loving as always.
But I could no longer feel its warmth.
I never knew someone could be such a convincing actor just to get revenge.
