Charles had thoughtfully guided Nancy throughout the duration of the meeting.
Even Nancy found his actions a little inconceivable. And so, the lady wondered how their peers might have felt.
Nancy was still in a daze even after the meeting had ended.
"Mrs. Fu, we shall go first!"
"Mrs. Fu, I hope you can attend our meetings more often from here on!"
"Yes, that is right, Mrs. Fu. We all hope to hear your ideas in the future!"
Charles was in a good mood that day, and the meeting went smoothly-especially given Nancy's attendance.
Everyone sincerely hoped to see Nancy again.
Her presence had undeniably benefited everyone, and everyone recognized that.
Nancy simply nodded and smiled at everyone.
Everyone soon left the conference room. Nancy found herself sporting a huge smile as she sat on her chair.
"Do you want to stay here?" Charles said as he gently took Nancy's coffee cup away.
"What?" Charles' voice brought Nancy back to reality. The corners of her mouth had grown a little stiff, and so she rubbed them. "Well, the meeting is over?" she asked.
"What? Honey, did you fall asleep?" Charles asked, clearly surprised with how Nancy reacted.
Although her face was obviously filled with joy, Nancy's eyes were somewhat blank. Everything she had done was merely instinctive and her mind belonged elsewhere.
"No, honey! I'm absolutely awake. I was just reciting the names of my patients in my head!"
"Hmm.. How can you be so dedicated?" Charles asked with a sliver of annoyance.
"Well, don't you like me to be dedicated? After all, you are the biggest shareholder of the hospital!" Nancy stood up and said, "I have to admit, it's not that easy to hold a meeting. I used to think that you simply sit all day long!"
"I guess you can call me dedicated, don't you think?" Charles teasingly said as he grabbed and wore his coat.
Nancy raised her eyebrows and said, "I guess so. I'm famished. Let's go out and eat!"
"Sounds great! But first, let's pick up the kids!" Charles replied enthusiastically.
"The kids are still in school. It's not yet time to pick them up, Charles. Why don't we pick them up later?" To be honest, Nancy was a bit overwhelmed with Bobby and Nadia.
She realized how fast their children were growing. And that required them to grow as parents as well.
But the fact remained, Nancy still didn't know how to answer their questions!
They were starting to be quite troublesome.
"But we promised to take them to the movies, remember? Let's go!" Charles pleaded.
"Okay..." Nancy reluctantly accepted.
Charles held her arm as they walked out of the building.
"You are unusually sweet today, aren't you?" Nancy blushed as she asked.
"Well, get used to it!"
"Show off!" Nancy scoffed as she rolled her eyes.
Charles shrugged and said, "It's not showing off! I just want to be intimate, that's all." "I've made up my mind. I want the whole world to know how much I love you. That should stop anyone who wants to make trouble," the man added. He sounded more serious that time.
"It seems that you are using me as a trophy, Mr. Fu!" Nancy joked.
"Well, if that's how you'd like to view my love for you, then I have nothing else to say," Charles said with hint of grief.
Nancy smiled, "Charles, why do you have to be so sensitive? You are a grown man. You should take jokes more lightly, okay?"
She clenched her fists as she spoke. Nancy then playfully hit Charles by the chest.
"Ouch, it hurts!" Charles frowned, seemingly in pain.
"I didn't even use much strength. Are you hungry or something? Does your shoulder hurt? How about your back?" Nancy nervously asked.
"Yes, Nancy! They're all hurting..."
Her face suddenly turned serious. "Let's go. We'll eat later. I'll drive you to the hospital," Nancy suggested.
